Hi all

Been looking for a solution to something and I can’t find what I want in my industry or related industries. On the basis of trying to support our community I present my need here;

I want to streamline my booking process for the product I sell.

There are many of us working doing the thing we sell and I want to be able to use a calendar app (like a shared google calendar for ex) so that I can see the scheduling of who is working, when and where.

Then, once I’ve entered a sale of the product we do, I want the system to auto send a client an email confirming the details of their purchase, the info they need and an auto generated invoice.

I also want the client data to then go and sit on a database somewhere and the email address stored somewhere like mail chimp.

I’m pretty sure this would be easy to make, I just don’t have the time or competence to do so.

If any of you could do this or could point me in the right direction to do this myself or want to make it for me, get in touch. I have some budget and a willingness to get it done.

P.s. I should mention that if we can make a good product there is a strong chance of being able to market it to every business in my sector worldwide with the necessary support etc and money that that would bring. I would happily do a JV on that.

You are busy enough as you said here. You don't have enough time to do this. There have some good freelancing market place you can try there. The below freelancing websites are good enough 1) Elance 2) Freelance 3) Fiverr 4) People Per Hour 5) Microworker.

Reminds me of the typical "Need a technical co-founder, I have a great idea but can't code, no pay but 50% ownership" guys. Avoid them at all costs.

But for real OP, your idea seems like a very standard use-case than has already been solved. It's a bit difficult to understand exactly your needs but I'm guessing it goes like this:

1. You have employees (or just yourself) that are doing some form of on-site visits.
2. You have clients that need to schedule time/place that suits there needs.
3. You have clients purchase the product
4. Payment gets processed / invoice generated
5. Software automatically sets a date/time for the on site visit.
6. Software emails customer for appointment details and invoice
7. Software emails employee for appointment details
8. Some type of admin panel to see all appointments: date, time, nature of work, employee assigned, etc.

This is a super common business use case and without even looking I can guarantee you will find a plugin/package for every major CMS/web framework.

In terms of programming difficulty, you are correct this is easy to develop in terms of complexity. But we are still talking hundreds of hours for a reliable, well tested, shippable product.

Fire up wordpress, do a search for plugins, find a premium plugin catering to this need. Pay the price (probably $100 or so) and configure it yourself. Can't do it yourself, then hire a freelancer to configure it for $25-$50 (to get a decent one). Probably in the ballpark of 10-20 hours (depends on the needs of the plugin).

Either way, your looking at at most $1k in development fees + plugin purchase which (if not free) is probably $50-$100.

I would charge around 3-5k though, because the majority of development time is not in actual implementation, it's in meetings and refinement.

Gonna echo the chorus on this one. This is a pretty foolish remark.

And what you're asking for isn't that 'easy to make'. You're looking at 3 user roles (client, employee, admin), a scheduling UI that syncs to a persistence layer, and 2 service integrations (payments + mailing). I'm sure you want the application to look decent, so all of the above would be separate to generating designs/wireframes and UX.

I'd be extremely reluctant to take on the project at any price with comments like the above.

I won't even take a job that pays less than 1k USD per day nowadays. TS can look for third rate developers in freelancing sites. Quality is of course questionable there.
