Iron John is one of my favorite books, too.

I took it less as a literal series of steps to becoming a man and more of a general look at why masculinity is in the state it's in nowadays.

I'll check it out. I read Fire in the Belly which was cool.

the best "how to be a man" book I've ever read was "The way of the superior man" by david deida. Recommended to all my close, smarter guy friends and it's kind of a bible we all share now.

I think "clean break" may just mean that you no longer need their approval...but I haven't read the book. Careful about cutting off contact with your fam bro - in time you may regret it.

That Doc Paul stuff is pretty sweet. Altough it feels to me like he is advocating settling down.
