Let me warn you...this isn't based on how hot the women are! (it's based more on quality of life, safety, etc.

Toronto came in at #15, and Canada holds 3 spots on the list.

Switzerland also holds 3 spots, including Bern (a college buddy of mine just moved there)

New Zealand also holds 3 spots, as well as Germany (Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Munich)

Of course, the US holds NO spots.

I find that most of those places are extremely boring, which makes sense. Safe places tend to be that way.

There are so many other things to consider when making a list like this. Having lived in or near a few of these places, I can tell you for a native English speaker who only speaks English, any place in Germany is not good for a long period of time. Perhaps a month or two but that's it. New Zealand and Vancouver seems about right to me. Where is NYC? And Tokyo? It seems like this list isn't considering a single man's priorities because a lot of these places don't have a particularly stellar nightlife. People from Switzerland come to Germany to have fun, Munich and "clubs" should never be in the same sentence unless you're saying "man, Munich has no fucking clubs," and the same goes for A-dam. I was suprised at a city of that size and potential not having any good night clubs.

One of my close American friends has lived in Switzerland for the past 4 years. Being a female she even says Switzerland isn't the type of place to go to hook up or party. The way she makes it sound is that its a much more "cliquie" place with not many places options on nightlife.

Vancouver is a snooze fest with some of the worst liquor laws in Canada. Each year it gets rated in the top 3 when you couldn't even pay me to go visit the place for an extended period.

We have knocked TO around bad on the forum here but its true, you can live a comfy, stable (boring), life here.

These lists are junk tho. Its mostly saying "Where can a 35 year old White American English speaker move to and still have a job and lifestyle somewhat comparable to America"

Cost of living is all relative. You end up making much more money in expensive places if you do it right. I've lived in a few expensive places and a few cheap places. At the end of the day, you end up living just about the same. Typically in places where cost of living is high it's easier to find jobs that are gonna pay more. Mostly only inner city people work at places like McDonalds or a grocerie store only making $8 an hour.

Just spent the weekend in Melbourne, fantastic city. Australia in general is a great place to live.

I agree with the list. Toronto is an amazing place to live, one of the best cities in the world. It's downside according to many: girls are cold and dry, hard lays.

Other than that, it's great.

Very surprised NYC, San Fran, LA and even Chicago weren't on the list though.

When one considers best places to live, they consider it from a family perspective.
There is a slight edge of danger involved with easy loose lizards and exciting clubs etc.
I don't believe that the two (safety and excitement) can co-exist.
Canada is GREAT to live in if you have a family.
Toronto is good if you are wified up and you enjoy that comfy middle class life.
But if you are trying to grind it out to get your papers up and your lizard count up, there are definitely much better cities.
Hands down.

Agreed, but don't forget the homeless/junkie demographic, Van city does a great job at attracting them too, I'm pretty sure East Hastings street is one of the most fucked up postal codes in North America!

Always good times walking down around Main and E. Hastings.
Even on Granville (main clubbing/bars place downtown) the crackheads walk to every place asking for money from the people in line. "Sorry bud my last $30 is going towards cover and a drink"

These "boring" European cities beat the sh*t out of any US city, like NYC or Chicago, on any given day.

* Clubs close at 6-7 am. In America's most "cosmopolitan" city, NYC, clubs have to apply for a special license to be able to close at 4am. All other US cities don't even come close, it's like 2 or 3am.

* No last call. In all these "boring" Euro cities, drink whenever you like! All US cities have strict 'last call' policies, where you won't be served a drink after 2-3 am.

* Prostitution fully legal in all these "boring" European cities! In the US, prostitution is 99% illegal, and strictly prosecuted, yep even in Las Vegas.

* Nudity in regular clubs, festivals, raves which you haven't even heard of, -- all of that happens on a regular basis in Europe. A shitload of music events and cultural events, unlimited entertainment for people under 21 (drinking age is 16), yeah, very "boring" indeed.

In terms of entertainment and fun, these cities are actually above any US city even something like Vegas.

Life is much less regulated/puritan in Europe, with fewer laws on sex and alcohol, which makes for a more fulfilling culture with more fun (IMHO).

The only 6 thing I care about:
1. quality of women
2. availability of women
3. cost of living low
4. unemployment low
5. high median wages
6. sunlight

These six criteria still create an interesting challenge, even if all six aren't everywhere. If one of them doesn't matter to you, the others seem good.

Employment is relative to your economic situation. For instance, I can get employment in pretty remote places because most people in my health profession don't want to live there.

Anyplace Slavic has the first three usually.

If you're retired, high median wages is bad, it means prices are higher.
