RE: Wife Hunting Abroad
I think I prefer the Vietnamese/Japanese/Chinese look over the Filipina also.
I've only been in Saigon for a few days and the only date I've been on was with a paralegal who's interested in US politics and Hillary Clinton is her hero. Just my luck.
While doing some light research on Vietnam family law I came across this article. It suggests Vietnamese women (at least in the big cities) are becoming more westernized. But then again, it's just an article. I'm looking forward to gaining my own experience here.
Vietnam Divorces
Quote:The arrival of Starbucks and McDonald's aren’t the only signs that Vietnam is starting to look more like a developed country. According to a new survey, the country’s divorce rate has skyrocketed over the past decade, especially in urban areas, reports Shanghai Daily:
“According to a recent survey co-conducted by Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the General Statistics Office, and with support from the United Nations Children's Fund(UNICEF), the number of divorces in Vietnam has increased over the years, from 51,361 cases in 2000 to 88,591 cases in 2010, and 145,791 cases in 2013. As of November 2013, Vietnam's population had reached 90 million.”
A separate study by the Vietnam Institute of Social Sciences confirmed the above findings, adding that 60% of the divorces are made up of young couples, with ages ranging from 23 to 30 years while 70% of divorced couples had a marriage life of one to seven years.
On the demographic side, studies “found that women accounted for 70% of people who forwarded their divorce cases to courts and intellectuals and state employees made up the majority of the total divorcees.”
Professor Nguyen Huu Minh, head of the Institute for Family and Gender Studies under the Vietnam Institute of Social Sciences, said that in recent years, one out of every four married couples got divorced, adding that:
"Most of the young divorcees lack 'soft skills' in life, as they are normally the 'only child' in their family and they have enjoyed too much care and attention from their parents, which makes them selfish people. In their marriage life, they lack altruism and patience and they often resort to divorce or separation."
Spoiled kids make for poor spouses. Who would have thought?

RE: Wife Hunting Abroad
Just FYI I thought Saigon was much worse for LTR women (as in I would never go there again) compared to Da Nang and Hanoi.
I honestly don't get the draw to Saigon at all. Horrific Freddy Kreuger traffic, no metro, no subway. Pretty horrific nightlife. Seems the further you go north you get more Chinese and a little mixed French blood here and there with better looking taller women too, nicer bone structure within Vietnam. Saigon down south seems like shorter women and you get that plain smorgasbord facial look of Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, to a certain extent Thailand. The little Ewok with no sharp high cheekbones, no cute little noses with a little bit of a Tinkerbell point to them, or any other facial features that pop out in a good way.
Saigon seems like the team going 2 wins 14 losses in the Vietnamese city league. Didn't even make the playoffs!

You prefer the Asian look over the Spanish / Eurasian look?
For me, some of those mix Pinays are hot as fuck.
Non mixed blood Pinays def are inferior though.
The Malay look isn't the best.
The main issue with Pinays is their faithfulness.
Cheating is far too common for my liking.

The draw for many I suppose is the options, numbers and variety. HCMC has to have 2-4 times more women then those other two cities. Girls from Hanoi and Da Nang come to HCMC to study and work.
Traffic is an issue but is greatly reduced if you live and word centrally.

Yeah Saigon is really a shitshow, there aren't many attractive girls here. You really need to have several years experience with the language to even have a shot with decent girls. Hot sluts don't date foreigners and hot good girls can't communicate with you. Night life is abysmal, traffic makes going a few blocks take 30 minutes during rush hour. There's really only one comfortable month out of the year, too--the rest of the year it pours every day, making dates impossible, or it's too hot and humid to go outside. Spot on assessment, Travesty. Hanoi in general is just a much more livable city than Saigon.
Tweezy I'm not really sure what you mean about traffic. Living and working centrally means you are getting the worst of the traffic, all day long. District 1 is a complete clusterfuck. The only way you avoid traffic in this city is by living in D2 or D7 and also working there, but then you might as well live in the suburbs back in a western country.

RE: Wife Hunting Abroad
Vietnam is a great place guys... it just has a learning curve. Players do seem to hate HCMC. Here is the deal. Most of the guys in Vietnam are very skinny and short, plus their families are a pain in the ass. So most girls middle class and lower would be happy to run off with a Western guy. Plus, most of them are convinced that Eurasian babies are super good looking. It's a touch different for black guys... but the same basic principals apply. Upper class girls want a rich handsome guy... they don't care about his ethnic background.
Every single girl done at least 6 years of English in school. They know it, but don't speak it well. Memorize some common Vietnamese phrases like Chi Dep, and Di An Khong? Once you get their interest they will try to understand you and things get much easier. Do not expect first date sex. Try to give it 2 weeks if you can... or at least 3 dates.
Ok... so as for the attractiveness of HCMC girls... there is a heavy amount of short dark girls who have the Khmer look. However, they also have a HUGE population of ethnic Chinese women that are from the Beijing area 300 years ago. They didn't start marrying into the local population until 1990... and the older ones don't even speak Vietnamese. You can tell these girls by their family name and the fact that they are taller, lighter skinned, and almost Korean in face shape.
Also... Hillary Clinton is very popular in Vietnam. The American Newspapers have been pushing her and Obama here for 8 years. They don't really know anything about her... and they don't really care. These girls are deeply conservative in economics and also more conservative than me on social issues. This stuff will NEVER be an issue. If you marry a Viet girl she will vote and believe how her husband tells her.
I honestly believe that Vietnam is probably the best country in Asia for wife hunting. I would describe these girls as submissive tigers... and unlike Japanese or Korean women they won't shut down your sex life after 1 kid.

RE: Wife Hunting Abroad
Vietnamese is not an easy language to learn. Learning Viet is a rabbit hole you'll likely never see the end of, with complex grammar rules and redundant sentence structures that goes far behind the beginner frustration of learning all the pronouns. Speaking shitty Vietnamese might impress low-quality girls but hot chicks aren't going to care that you can say "xin chao" or order rice. If you want to marry a hot vietnamese woman you'd better get serious about learning the language, which means spending years living here and taking classes, not just teaching yourself a couple hours per week when you have free time.
You're spot on about Hillary though, the election has come up on the past 5 dates I've gone on and every single time the girl has left hating Hillary after I set the record straight. I usually just say "Did you know Hillary Clinton killed 30 people?" It's simple and gets the point across.
Nightlife is bad because there are very few options. That will probably change in a few years, but for now that's just how it goes.

I hope people believe your comments about attractive girls. I can pm pictures of tons of really attractive girls in HCM. All procured through online. And when I say attractive I don't mean most guys misconstrued notion of 5's and 6's. I am talking solid 7's and some 8's. Please spread that info around. More hot girls for me.
As for the traffic, if your logistics are good, everything will be in walking distance or a very short moto ride away. Not much of a problem imo. Now you are right about D7. Much more peaceful, wider roads, less congestion, etc. Then again, doesn't even feel like VN when I am in D7.

The grammar is actually quite similar and more simple than English. Subject + verb etc. No verb conjugations.
I will post a datasheet on VN language when I get some free time.
The hardest part is the pronunciation by a country mile.
The nightlife is bad because going out at night late to bars and clubs is still kinda looked down on. This is changing though.
Most girls idea of a night out includes dinner, coffee, and the cinema.
VN is still very much conservative with partying, dating, etc.
They literally have no conception or understanding of "casual" dating.
I shit you not.

Literally, the first Westerner on Earth to say VN pronunciation is the easiest part.
VN intonation makes Thai and Chinese look like child's play.
The sound makes me want to off myself.
What about VN grammar is so hard specifically?

Well, I use the Vietnamese phrases I know to catch the woman's attention. Some of the hottest women are not available online. You are correct that learning the language to the point of fluency is a lot of work. It's a crazy language and to be honest... there is no way to speak it and not sound like a retard. The language straight up sucks. That said... if you are gaming. Use some words to get her attention and then switch to English. The hottest girls will know English, but won't speak it well. If you speak very simple words you can get a date pretty easy most times.
Vietnamese don't care about politics. They don't have any say in how things go anyway... so most just go with the flow and believe whatever is popular.
Chill Bar is expensive as hell... I suggest giving it a try because you get some quality women up there. The nightlife does generally suck.

RE: Wife Hunting Abroad
Vietnamese does not "suck," and I've heard a handful of foreigners speak the language here who sound 99% identical to a native speaker so it's not impossible to learn. It's tricky, but it makes sense once you learn the basics.
I'm just saying to any lurkers reading this right now, do not expect to come here, pick up a couple phrases and be able to run game on Miss Vietnam. The average person reading this forum (myself included) is not an international playboy, and I get sick of hearing people bitch about going to Thailand or the Philippines or Vietnam who wonder why there wasn't a row of models waiting on the tarmac to gargle their balls.
Tweezy personally I think the hardest part about the language is learning the redundant words in various sentences, such as co the and duoc, where either one, or both, can be used in the same sentence without changing the meaning. Same with moi and vua, etc. There are also a lot of words that don't have good English definitions like nha or vay at the end of a sentence.

I think the language sucks. I think it sounds bad to the ear compared to other languages. Korean sounds whiny, and Japanese sounds short and choppy which I like best. That said... it sounds like you have some experience with it. You can probably game chicks that other guys couldn't even get to look at them.
I agree that guys need to set their expectations properly here. This is a wife hunting thread and I personally believe that Vietnam has a greater % of women who are awesome wife material than anywhere else in Asia. The culture has this very traditional women's role... but also the concept that when the war comes women fight too. That means when bad times come... they step up. If you lose your job, that housewife will think nothing of starting to work to help you pay bills... and she will drop that job just as fast when times are good again.
Of course as a negative... if they catch you cheating they will cut your dick off and put it in the garbage disposal. LOL. That actually happens.

I know a couple girls that did college here in the US, but never dated foreign guys. Often times they wanted to, but never got out of their social circle, or were afraid to speak English. I would rate 2 of them as solid 8's. One looks alot like Elly Tran Ha. If you don't know her... google it.

Very curious to hear more about your experience with your Viet girl. Where did you meet her? How long have you been married and how it is to date and marry a good Viet girl?
Gracias amigo!
So this was my first post about this:
/thread-50002...pid1388567
With a follow up discussion a bit further down.
We've been married about 2 months now, but we were living together (basically defacto married) for another 3 months before that.
So far somewhat smooth. She's got no natural housekeeping instincts, having lived in a tiny house with her female relatives all her life. I'm training her on that.
She's also getting quite a bit better as a cook with my training, mostly mindset and some basic skills.
She's fun - she's girly and silly and easily scared. We've had a couple fights about stupid stuff, but both have been opportunities to correct some bad behaviour. I need to work on my patience with her.
Also - Kidlet #1/5 on the way. I hit the bullseye on our first week back in Spain. Next June I become a Patriarch.
On the language stuff - her sister asked me to please learn Vietnamese. I nodded and smiled. No fucking way.
