Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
Since this forum's original theme was improving your position, be it through living in another country, banging more or hotter chicks, or improving your income & physique etc, I'd like to take a roll call.

Relative to 3 years ago, where do you consider your aggregate position as a man, against the values that matter most to you (be that sex, money, day-to-day lifestyle, family/community, or whatever).

Feel free to add details of why or why not in the thread.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
The difference between three years ago and now is night and day, it's absolutely amazing.

Three years ago, I was married to an aging American girl with a kid -- and with wandering eyes. I was miserable, out of shape, wasn't having any sex, and just wasting my life away in suburbia. The only good thing was money. I was making 6 figures, but had zero autonomy with my boss constantly looking over my shoulder and "approving" my work before it goes out of my department. And the money I brought home went to house repairs and stuff my wife wanted. Hardly any for myself.

Today, I'm living in SEA, dating a sweet Vietnamese girl -- a solid 7 by my conservative rating -- who practically worships the ground I walk on, and am making money in my business where I am my own boss. I've already spent a year banging Asian hotties before now. I'm in the best shape of my life, benching, squatting, and deadlifting the heaviest I've ever done. I even have to add weights to my pullups and chinups to challenge myself! I eat better now, too. The only issue now is I miss my family, with the distance and all.

Just a couple days ago, I posted this update in my location independence thread:

/thread-56733...pid1578835

When I look back at how far I've come from three years ago, through my divorce, posting about my divorce on the forum, going on my first trip to the Philippines, and starting my journey to location independence, I can hardly believe it. I get a bit emotional thinking about it.

Healthier.

Better managing stress.

Letting things go that I don't want or need.

Hell, I've been consistently flossing and improved my gum scaling as a result.

Just got a small business off the ground after getting past some setbacks.

Overcame a bunch of problems and delivered something positive.

It's a good three years.

Holy crap, If I began to list how much better I am than three years ago I could write a fucking decalogy.

Me now is 1000x better than me three years ago. No debate.

What's more important to the thread is that there are men who answered "worse" or "slightly worse."

Who are you? What happened?

It's easy to go here, lifter's lounge, player's log, end of year threads, etc. and see the successes people had.

It's NOT easy to discuss the problems we've had to overcome. The struggles that made us who we are, and the hurdles that have made us stronger because of it.

I've had countless issues I've worked out off-line that I'll soon be sharing. I hope you do too.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
It's been a little more than 6 years since I joined the forum... and I had been waiting for a good reason to finally celebrate with my 6000th post (instead of trolling the Trump thread for once Laugh). For the sake of brevity, I'll try to keep my own story to a few key points.

For those of you who know me, I was a bit of a late bloomer and went wild towards the end of my late 20s. A few years ago, after much experimenting, I found myself in a committed, long-term relationship that ultimately ended as a failed engagement. I spent the next few years re-evaluating my fitness regimen (or lack thereof for a time), my financial situation (then, mediocre at best), my social life (3 years ago, virtually non-existent), and ultimately, my personal life goals and future.

Social Circle

This place, this brotherhood of strong-willed, like-minded men, has long since been a refuge from the chaotic "real world." The RVF is a place of strength, a great resource of knowledge and experience, and its inhabitants, phenomenal motivators. I've forged relationships that have extended into the real world and networked with those I otherwise would not have met. Some are men that I proudly call my friends, some of whom I've been able to rely on in times of need, and others who have even thanked me for guiding them through their own challenges navigating adulthood.

I now am a part of, lead, and help to organize two regular meetups of like-minded, red-pilled folks. One solely for men, the other, a bit more diverse. This fall, I'll join nearly two dozen of you out west for a weekend retreat - I can't wait. Having forged relationships beyond the RVF, I have entered in and established multiple social groups for which have produced many mutual benefits, including my own growth, and helped maintained my sanity during some dark times.

Fitnesss, Diet & Health

I'm in the best shape, physically, that I've been in a very long time. Far from where I see my peak potential self, but far enough along to be proud of what I've accomplished thus far in terms of discipline and routine as well as BMI and muscle gains. I'm also back to getting in cardio 3 to 4 times per week, and my blood pressure is nearing normal levels again. Stress bounces off me like nothing.

I've cut out unnatural sugars, sodas, and most unhealthy foods out of my life almost completely and my energy levels have increased substantially. My focus has been on clean, natural, inexpensive, non-processed foods. I cook for myself, and others, frequently. I'm very pleased with the changes I have made and have been able to sustain, however, I know there is still room for improvement and I still have a weak spot for pizza and alcohol that I'm currently gaining the upper hand on. Banana

Relationships

In terms of women, it has never been easier for me to weed out bad apples and incompatible types of girls. I have slowed down a bit and all but given up on online dating, instead choosing to pursue alternative methods in meeting quality women. While I know now what I'm looking for, I still have not found the right girl for me yet (although there is one, half a world away at the moment). And yet, I find I'm completely comfortable with myself and in no rush and in no get entangled with another hot mess. Right now, this just isn't my biggest priority.

Professionally

Recently, I finally started making some big career moves to further my own objectives... since I found that enjoying a modest salary was not really cutting it in terms of achieving my end game. I work hard, but I was not getting the results or the compensation I was looking for in my current role, so I started looking further outward again. My plan is to leave DC and I'm currently (if all goes according to plan) in the last stages of transitioning to a new position within my current company in Texas, where the women are more conservative, the weather a tad warmer, and the cost of living far less.

I paid off the last of my student debt in March and have about 2 1/2 years left to pay off the last bit of debt I owe, a single 0% APR car loan. My net worth, in 3 years, has quadrupled. This has been in part due to some cost-saving decisions and techniques I decided to employ, as well as refocusing and diversifying my earnings into mutual funds, special projects, one-time "events" (i.e. gambling winnings... thanks Trump!), and other avenues of investment. It's common sense to me. I don't want to be middle class forever, and I know that no one is going to just hand it to me. Working on a few side hustles to see if anything pans out. Having a passive income is crucial!

I'll leave you two quotes. The first from my former boss and mentor... the second, from my father who I would consider my best friend, my greatest mentor, and my drinking buddy all rolled into one:

"When the rules don't serve the need, change the rules"

and lastly...

"There are many paths to the top of the mountain, but the view is always the same."

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of my journey, thus far. I hope I've been a positive part of some of yours as well. And a big thank you to my great, long-time friend Roosh, for creating (AND maintaining) this place to begin with.

Tough to top gmac's excellent post.

I'm doing much better and I'm glad I discovered this place. I came here after a divorce, Neil Strauss, the rational male and LOZ wagon thread.

I'm healthier, I eat better, I just bought a house in an amazing location, I'm more productive and professionally I am doing really well and I'm about 6 months away from realising one of my life ambitions and something that few non Swiss have ever achieved in Switzerland. Also, thanks to you dirty rascals in other threads, my sex life is fantastic and I'm much better at it.

I'm with a great girl who only wants the best for me and if you had told me three years ago that I'd have a baby girl and be loving it, I wouldn't have believed you. I genuinely thought that part of life had passed me by.

I'm not finished yet by any means, this is just the start but I thank the combined wisdom of the gents in this forum for all of their advice and help. This place is a great source of information, knowledge and also my go to breaking news site.

Rvf is a true haven of (what only a few years ago would be considered) normal thought amongst men. If it was a pub, I'd be in there every night chatting with the regulars like norm and his mate in cheers.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
My position has gradually improved over the 3 years to the point where the 2 situations are virtually incomparable.

Career: Solidified to the point where right now only the biggest companies in the world are the only ones that may offer me something that i could potentially consider. The last 3 years i have developed a unique set of skills that are increasingly difficult to find anywhere.

Living Situation: I am part of a tiny minority of dudes my age who is a house owner in a good LA neighborhood. Huge difference from 3 years ago where i was sharing a 2 bedroom apt.

Financials: While i did take a large mortage, i do have my self covered for along time even if the worst is likely to happen.

Social-Lifestyle: In terms of frendships, nothing has really changed, i mostly just have acquaintances. Even the ones i call friends, i hardly every see them. I do have family which is nice. Not much has changed in terms of activities, community involvement or other new things i wanted to try. I haven't done any of it. Right now i don't even pretend to like new things, the older i get the more set in my ways i become. Since my situation has improved my acquaintances have changed. I pretty much try to avoid them as much as possible as i think the majority are boring snobs who just won't shut the fuck up. They talk over you when they should listen and they can't stop NAME DROPPING which to me is most annoying part of all. I find myself mostly trolling them unless i need something.

Women: at 30years of age i am now banging 18-23 year olds on a consistent basis. I takes me less time and effort to bang now then it did when i was 22 and in peak fitness/attraction level. A combination of a premium living situation and financial improvement is pretty much all i needed.

Fitness/Appearance: It has slightly declined. I have tried several times to come up with a plan in order to get back to my peak fitness/attraction level of 2008-2012, failed every single time. This is getting to me because i am good at setting goals with concrete quantifiable objectives in other areas of my life. But for some reason i just can't seem to do gain ground in this area. Also, i am aware the older i get the more difficult it will be to achieve results.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
Cool thread.

I'm definitely better but it's only natural since I'm still relatively young.

3 years ago:
- Had been dating a girl for over a year, very happy although I couldn't quite see it at the time
- Good understanding of game principles, not much first hand experience
- Fit but too skinny, starting to experiment with different articles of clothing and styles
- Making shit money but very happy with work and colleagues
- Mid-way through University degree
- Living with my family, constant attrition with my stepfather

Now:
- Single for the past year, a bunch of new bangs in the records, currently stable with two cool girls and new prospects always coming in
- Much better understanding of game, can read through the Matrix code. Still miss shots, but can study them and see why they failed. Friends seek me for girl advice
- Physically fit, bulkier, edgier style
- More than doubled my income, happy with work although a bit bored
- Still trying to finish my degree
- Moved out, cut contact with my stepfather
- Sharing a flat with a good friend and wingman, great location, good times

With the exception of still having to go to school (I thought I would have been done with it by 2016), I'm very pleased with the progression.

I'm excited to revisit this thread in the future, I've got a lot of plans for the next three years.

I'm doing far better than I was 3 years ago. It was about that time that was a low point in my life, and then started reading Return of Kings. It really helped make sense out of all the confusion I got from dating the "right way", and helped inspire me to take self-improvement more seriously. Later on I decided to join the forum.

Now my social skills are much, much better, and I'm more confident as a result. Also, (partly because of the forum and ROK) I've learned a lot about politics and history. I can also lift a lot more than I used to, and I've gotten to meet some cool guys from the forum.

I still have things I'm working on (some health and financial issues) but I know I'll get there eventually.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
I'm doing great. I'm not where I want to be yet, but relative to three years ago growth has been like a hockey stick. I'll break it down to health, wealth, and relationships.

Health: This has always been the easy one for me. I've been lifting since college and training BJJ for over a decade. I've kept both these up consistently the past few years. My only time off has been for injuries and a week here and there after a period of very high intensity training. I did have a low T blood test, but I'm pretty certain as to the cause.

While I'm not big by any means (I get told 'you're pretty fit' or 'you've kept yourself in great shape' with the exception of a kid who called me 'jacked' once and asked if I was juicing) I'm satisfied with where I am. I do get tired more easily these days, but I can still keep up with the college kids in my grappling and MT classes. More muscle mass never hurts so I could step it up in this department or even just go full blown TRT.

My diet has been pretty decent, I still pig out on pizza now and then, but for the most part it's solid. All my metabolic blood markers are healthy/optimal. I rarely drink (except on dates)

Wealth: This is where I feel I've made my biggest strides. 4 years ago to now I've nearly doubled my income. With this increase however I didn't change my lifestyle one bit with the exception of buying a nicer car. I took the advice of Roosh, MikeCF, and the forum and just aggressively saved and went minimalist. I've always been a low key guy, never been flashy. All the extra $$ I save goes into 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, Prosper, Vanguard index funds, and cryptos. I plan on keeping this up for at least a few more years. My next big goal is to buy some income producing properties.

Career wise, I'm looking to make some bigger moves and some are in the works.

Relationships: Honestly game has been put more on the back burner lately. I actually get laid less often these days. I simply don't waste time on women who don't fit my requirements anymore and just getting laid for the sake of getting laid has gotten old. I'm transitioning more towards trying to find something stable with a reputable woman (becoming impossible in the states)

With that said I still feel like I'm not even close to my potential. Starting to have success and getting older does shift your mindset from taking risks to capital preservation.

While it's been a big improvement the past few years, I've also found myself becoming more complacent in certain areas which bothers me. I've always been aggressive in all areas of life, going after what I wanted with little fear and a big set of balls. It's time to start taking on some bigger risks.

I'm doing great in all aspects of my life except for financial/career. Due to a series of stupid mistakes in my 20s (including a failed marriage) I was left more or less broke. Now, I'm slowly but surely digging myself out of this hole. Regardless, this forum has greatly improved my overall being and if I hadn't discovered it, I'd probably be homeless.

You da man, Roosh.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
Three years ago, I'd just finished up a 4 year degree (that took me more than 8 years to finish off, because I balanced my time between the classroom and actual learning experiences) and needed to borrow thousands of dollars from a credit card just to get started in Beijing.

I know earn 3X the income I did then, work half the hours and have a great deal of flexibility in how I live my life. For example, last winter, I took an entire month off of work, just because I wanted to.

My notch count is over 30 notches higher and my game is much improved.

My Chinese language skills have grown significantly. I've visited two new countries.

I've created a business plan for a company I really believe in and am steadily pursuing the creation of valuable products.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.
"

3 years ago:

Just transferred to a new major for university, had no savings and was looking for a job.

Little to no friends, extremely introverted and family relationships were strained.

Style was okay.

I had just discovered the Black Flag and Pook but not yet Roosh.
Self improvement was still new to me but at least I had been going to the gym for a while. I think I just broke up with my ex girlfriend who was 9 years older than me.

Now:

Finished my major and passed the license exam. Lined up a decent paying job right out of school and saved up a chunk of money. Only debt is my student fees.

Met and am currently studying under a mentor. And because of his recommendation, I'm currently attending Toastmasters regularly.

I have a few close friends I meet regularly. I have no fear of meeting new people and am constantly making friends. Family relationships have improved dramatically to the point where my dad and I schedule golf sessions very often.

Dates are a lot of fun and I'm much more specific about the girls I want to attract. I no longer think certain girls are out of my league, in fact, it is the other way around.

That's all I can think of for now. But the old me would have never believed this is the future him.

Definitely,

I no longer speak to any feminist or SJW's wannabes.

I use to listen to their BS at work, because I wanted to be polite, i.e. accepted.

Now I basically won't tolerate it, and I constantly remind myself to avoid American or Western train women; i.e screening certain girls early.

That's my secret to improving life. That shit corrupts people's mind and makes them bitter people.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
I am, mentally and financially.

Fitness-wise, I've kind of been treading water. I gained a bunch of strength and some muscle, but also whole bunch of fat, which with my body type, I find very hard to lose. Currently brainstorming some ways to lose weight/fat. I'm thinking of trying low(-ish) carb again. I just need some method that won't decrease my mental acuity (low carb made me "foggy" in the past), as I need that for my work.

Visited 20 new countries.

Gained shitload of experiences that made me way stronger man.

Don't have any teachers or bosses so I can fash out loud when I feel like doing so.

I think I just got AMOGed.

Three years ago, I was living in a basement in a place that I hated. Now I live in an apartment in a tropical city, save a decent amount of money every month and smash some new girls when I please.

Life could be wayyyyyyyyy worse.

Physically:

I"m at my biggest and strongest

Mentally:

A lot tougher and less whiny.

I'll take it

You can bet on it
3 years ago:
- Fatty.
-On a relationship with a girl that didnt please me sexually
-2 friends I barely meet
-Studying just to do something
-Addicted to porn, videogames, and shitty food.
Now:
-About to start my first bulk.
-Two girls in rotation, both say they love me and try to please me
-Various social circles that give me tons of opportunities
-I know what I want career-wise, working towards it, and it's going well
-No longer under the chains of false pleasure. I have real hobbies that give me satisfaction and improve my life at the same time.

RE: Are you in a better position now than you were 3 years ago?
In 2014, I banged 43 girls, including 34 new notches. So far this year: 4 girls, 2 new notches. Does that answer your fucking question?Cb

No, seriously, it is very difficult comparing living in Africa (like I did then) with living in Europe. Overall, I would say there has been some slight improvement but with both major plusses and severe minuses.

The main positive is that I have gone from the verge of bankruptcy to having a good job with the flexibility and freedom to travel for months of the year and the money to pay for it. Downsides: 1) high expenses, not saving enough, 2) being busy and comfortable in the new job has allowed me to make excuses for not working on long-term goals and location independence.

I have a lot of work to do to get my finances where I want them to be. Unfortunately, I started way too late as I never really cared about money when I was young. Those of you who are in your 20s now should start thinking long-term if you're not already, I know I didn't back then.

Fitness-wise I have not improved in the last three years. This really needs to change. Poor fitness also fucks up my style. I plan on achieving significant change this summer.

Girl-wise I'm extremely cockblocked by my location, but as I said I'm able to travel quite a bit. I keep going back to Africa as it's easy to get hot young girls there. In the next couple of years I want to level up and explore Asia and Latin America before it's too late (I'm in my 40s). This is also an incentive to work on money, fitness, style and game.

While I still depend a lot on my African trips, I have also been able to bang five girls in Europe over the last year. That's an improvement for me, but the quality is not as high as I'm used to. I think getting a local FWB that's not too annoying would improve my situation a lot. In the meantime I'm set to reach 100 African girls banged this year. Will do a write-up if and when that happens.

Family-wise I have some issues that remain unsolved. Unfortunately there are mistakes you make that can never be undone. In this regard things have not changed since 2014.
