I've seen a few data sheets on here for Sydney, but I thought I'd contribute another since I've been living here for almost 2 years now...

Overall: Sydney is an AWESOME city. Hot chicks, amazing beaches, great restaurants, bumpin nightlife, beautiful views and tons of parks, etc. There are very few world class cities with world class beaches so close by, which is one of the reasons I think it makes it so special. It is also a very international city. I'd say only about 50% of the girls I meet out are actually born and raised Australians. I currently have a Swede, Brazilian, and Kiwi in the mix. No matter what your taste, you'll find them here (I was amazed at the population of Brazilians when I arrived). Being an international city also means that the novelty of being a foreigner is low to nonexistent. As an American, I'd say it helps 10% of the time...another 10% of girls hate it...and about 80% could care less. These percentages change drastically depending on where you are in Australia. In general I find Australians very friendly, laid back, and they have a great work/life balance.

Now for the DOWNSIDE: I'm sure this isn't news, but this city (and Australia in general) is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Gone are the days where you get two AUD for every one USD. Especially in the last couple years when the exchange rate plummeted. I get paid in USD and took an almost 30% pay cut within 8 months of moving here. When I first started looking for a place to live here, I thought that the rent prices weren't too bad - then I realized prices were listed per week, not per month.

Nightlife: By no means will this be extensive. Most suburbs have their own scene, so I'll just run through the nights for places I usually go. I live in the Eastern Suburbs and don't like going far if I can avoid it, so this reflects that. The price of a beer ranges from $5-$12 depending on the venue. Cover charges range from zero to $20.

Monday: Slowest night so you usually have to hit up the backpacker bars in CBD (downtown). Places like Scary Canary, Scubar, and Side Bar (the best).

Tuesday: Can also be pretty slow, but there is always something going on in Kings Cross. Trademark Hotel has a backpacker night with wet t-shirt contest, but World Bar usually has a better guy-girl ratio.

Wednesday: The spot with the hottest girls is The Golden Sheaf in Double Bay. Pretty clicky, but a great venue. Nearby in Bondi Junction, The Eastern goes off as well and is a younger crowd.

Thursday: Usually stay in King's Cross: Piano Room (always good ratio), World Bar, Kit n Kaboodle, most places are good. North Sydney (other side of the bridge) also GOES OFF on this night but it is super young. If you like the 17-19 yr old crowd, check out the Greenwood.

Friday: Almost interchangeable with Saturdays, as pretty much everywhere goes off on the weekends, but I like Surrey Hills this night. Check out the Beresford. It closes early(1am), so then you move to Oxford St close by (watch out for the gay bars) or take it to Kings Cross. In the Cross, check out The Club under Hugo's for a good late night spot.
If you don't go to Surrey Hills, check out one of the places in King's Cross I already mentioned, or Backroom, or Hugo's.
If you want to do Pubs, check out the Rocks near CBD. It's the historic area and a good place for beers with the boys (and easy pickings since the girls are lower quality). I like the Orient and Lowenbrau.
You can also do the beach bars...lots of places in Bondi, or Coogee Bay Hotel in Coogee
*For Friday afternoon (after-work drinks are huge here), check out Ryan's Bar in CBD.

Saturday: Everywhere I mentioned for Friday, but I usually like to go to one of the bigger clubs. Ivy (most popular club) in CBD and Argyle in the Rocks are my favourites, and I prefer their Sat crowd over Fri. They go late, are big and have plenty of hot girls, and have places you can talk. Establishment and Bar 333 are also worth noting and right next to Ivy. Cargo Bar in Darling Harbour is also good.

Sunday:
Afternoons: check out the Ivy Pool or Coogee Bay Hotel. Ivy Pool tries to be like a mini Vegas pool scene and has lots of hot girls, and turns into a club inside later in the evening.
Nights: Hugo's in the cross opens at 8pm and has $5 pizzas(delicious) and drinks. During summer especially, it gets very crowded with tons of hot girls and turns into a lounge/club and goes late. Down the street is industry night at Kit n Kaboodle which is also really good. Love Sundays...

*NOTE: A lot of people will tell you that King's Cross is dirty and not a good crowd. That may or may not be true, but it is fun, has girls, and there is always something going on. Like everywhere, it depends on where you go - there are nice bars and clubs with good crowds in the cross, and new ones are always popping up.

Daygame:
Anywhere in the city really, but Darling Harbour and near the Operahouse tend to be mainly tourists which is no good. I like Bondi Junction, the Westfield in CBD, Oxford St (Darlinghurst/Paddington end) and the parks in the Eastern Suburbs on the weekends. The beaches are also great, you'd be surprised how many girls are by themselves...but I haven't had the balls to actually approach a chick laying out.

The final thing worth noting, which may be my favorite event in Sydney, are the horse races. The races here are a HUGE social event with HOT chicks and LOTS of drinking. Girls go all out with dresses, hair pieces and hats, and guys suit up. There are two "city" tracks - Rosehill and Randwick. Randwick is conveniently located in the city and in general has a much better crowd. Rosehill is a train ride out west. If you are here for a big race day I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. We don't really have anything like it back in the states (I've been to Preakness, and that shit show is no comparison).

Haha, I started going to the Greenwood in 1996, sounds like it hasn't changed. It was one venue that never changed.

There are 4 horse racing tracks by the way, add in Canterbury and Warwick Farm. In fact I heard over this season that Randwick will be closed to refurbish the grand stands, that all the races will be moved to Warwick Farm.

If you're into the horse racing scene, the biggest event in Sydney is the Golden Slipper... but it still pales into comparison to the Spring Carnival in Melbourne.

Ya, didn't include Canterbury and Warwick (and the other tracks in greater Sydney) because they are way out of the city and usually only hold midweek races. A race day there is A LOT different than at Rosehill or Randwick. You don't even have to like racing to appreciate a Saturday at Randwick. And ya, I heard its getting some refurbs done too, but they still have races there this Autumn Carnival so not sure.

I've done Melbourne Cup week a couple times...legit.

Sydney is a sensational city. Great beaches, hot women from all over the world, thriving nightlife...whatever u want it is there.
If you are young, good looking and have coin this is a great spot.

I would love to set up shop in Sydney.

Indeed, I found Sydney to be very enjoyable despite my short stay. Compared to Brisbane where I've spent more time, Sydney has better climate, prettier architecture, prettier and friendlier girls, lower obesity rate, more varied and less centralized places to go out, and the list goes on and on...

How is Sydney in June? I know its winter time around then... is there a huge diffrence in night life, people visiting, things like that?

Randwick re-opened a month ago. They are still doing up the grandstand but the Sydney Cup Carnival is running there right now

A lot less backpackers who come over for the beaches. Temperature wise can vary from 10 -22 degrees celcius. When it rains in Sydney, it rains. Comes down in sheets. Nightlife around the beach spots drops off significantly and there is a slight drop off around town but still good numbers.

Gotta love Sydney. In my view, two of the world's best hostels are in Kings Cross - 'The Original Backpackers' is a mansion with an open courtyard in the middle of it.... really laid-back cool vibe. That's located in 'Victoria Street', which is 'backpackers alley'. The other one is 'Jackaroo Hostel' , a really modern place run by two friendly brother...again, really cool vibe and a rooftop terrace. Any way, when in Sydney chaps, always stay in Kings Cross hostels...the two I mentioned are *better* than hotels or apartments I promise.

Last time I was in Sydney I stayed a week with my brother, who has an apartment in the city. Any way, my brother kicked me out of the apartment after a week (that's when I was forced to go the hostels I mentioned), but they turned out to be fantastic.

Bondi Junction shopping center is teeming with amazingly fly girls in Summer. A lot of slim, tan girls dressed real skimpy about to hit the beach or coming back from the beach. Plus, the bus stop there is a big interchange to other beaches, so lots of eye candy passing through. A lot of the girls will be teenagers, but the age of consent is 16! I went to Coogee and Maroubra beaches both just south of Bondi last time I was there, girls weren't bad but these two beaches have a bad reputation even though the areas are pretty well off. Did NYE at Coogee, crawling with cops and wasn't all that great. I didn't venture much outside of the Eastern suburbs or the CBD because I was staying with family there so I can't say much about the rest of Sydney.

Also: Australia is shit in Winter. You may think it's warm here coming from up the USA or Europe but for us 10 C is cold and we will not go out. Aussie winters are very wet with endless grey skies. October to mid-April you'll be fine but Summer's always best.

this kind of bugs me, this may be the only chance i get to go to Australia for a long time. I hate to go there in winter time, im almost thinking of heading somewhere else on this side of the world where it is summer....

This is a nice datasheet, good looks.

I might add in a little extra around the CBD (downtown) areas specifically as I live there and it's my main going out area Thursday - Saturday, as the OP mentioned if you are wanting to head out Monday - Wednesday you'd be better off with the backpacker spots, I don't do these however as I'm too old.

Warm up spots (6-9pm):

Ryan's Bar: on George St, basically a massive outdoor courtyard bar, very busy from 5pm onwards on Fridays, clears out by 9ish as people go home or head out to proper spots but not bad for swooping some early digits

Del Medio: on york St, Cuban bar, cocktails and a few beers, again busy from 6 til 9ish, has a basement with a band, often groups of more 'corporate' type after work chicks, not really my bag but a nice midweek date spot also, apply online for a free memebership and get $10 mojitos...

Baxters: Clarence Street
Fairly new basement 'Whiskey' bar, basically a wall of rare whiskies, rockabilly music and a 50's vibe. Was painfully hipster a few months ago but now becoming mainstrream, still normally a line and elbow to elbow at weekends. Inconsistent quality of chicks but normally a few OK ones.

Stitch:
York Street, looks like a tailors shop from outside, descend the stairs and its a pretty cool cocktail bar, more of a group hangout spot and a nice, quiet midweek date joint.

CBD Hotel: York St
Standard pub with a DJ, very busy earlier on Fridays, quite a few chicks normally

Sanctuary Hotel: Sussex Street
Big hotel with an outdoor space at the front where you can grab a jug and check out the street action around. This is basically an Asian joint with a few tourists mixed in

Prime time spots (8pm onwards)

Establishment: George Street
Once the go to spot in Sydney, overshadowed by some newer joints now but still very popular. Nice decor and space, looks classier than it feels when you're there... nicknamed 'The Drycleaners' (pick up a suit). This is defenitly an older (plus 30) after work crowd for the most part though a few younger honeys there as well sometimes. In my opinion very courgar-ish and often the ratio is piss poor but worth a look, or go upstarirs to...

Hemmesphere: George Street
Cocktail bar above Establishment, more expensive, table service, some nice looking chicks in groups but kind of hard to open here for me

Zeta Bar: George Street
Above the hilton hotel, take the lift up. A pretty classy venue, nice outdoor deck for the smokers. Fridays have been pretty quiet recently but still enough potential for a visit. Saturdays are a house night with a decent local DJ and sometimes some well picked internationals, haven't been for a while but usually packed, dressy. nice ho's.
Also below Zeta in the basement there is a pub type bar which has a live funk band on Fridays, is PACKED out every week and full of lower grade chicks, if thats your bag, casual dress.

Arthouse: Pitt St
Huge multi room / level venue that doesn't really hang together and never seems busy these days, sometimes have big saturday night dance events, not overly recommended.

Argyle: The Rocks
As mentioned by the OP, a big, 2 level venue, seems to be constantly having mini 'refits' but is a cool spot with a big outside area, large bar/standing downstairs and a more dancefloor vibe upstairs. Fridays seem to flatten out pretty early, Saturdays are busier and will have cheesey dance upstairs, normally a reasonable ratio, standard OK to Good. Free entry

101 Bar: The Rocks
A stones throw from the Argyle. a pretty new venue that does'nt really work for me. Not overly busy at prime time the couple of times i've checked it but may have picked up now. Nice deck downstairs but other than that standard 'nitespot'. If you like Lebanese girls go here.

333: George St
Also mentioned by OP. Opposite the Ivy. Downstairs standing and drinking, upstairs dancefloor, pretty random crowd in my experience, some hot girls sometimes. OK for a quick look in but why eat burger when there's steak across the street...


The Ivy: George Street
In the interests of disclosure this is my no 1 go to spot week in week out so this may be a little biased.
A stunning venue by any standards, multi level / room, many areas and nooks and crannies, multiple restauraunts and bars within the venue. Up until around 2 years ago this was THE spot to go in Sydney, was hard to get in and the standard was incredibly high. These days, due to competing venues (Marquee) opening up it's pretty easy to get in for the average joe/jane, the dress code has pretty much been abandoned, howoever this is a bonus if you rock suits/blazers/skinny ties etc as you will get checks.
It's still always reliably busy, a good ratio, some fly honeys and HEAPS of asians (both Aussie born and a smorgasbord of Korean/Thai/Jap/Chinese on any given night). Has a very good flow and due to the layout of the venue you can game in mutiple different areas throughout the night.For me this is ultimately one of those spots that 'just works', fun and a party vibe.
Fridays are a mixed after work crowd with a lot of younger people arriving also after 11pm. Saturdays are better music (house, commercial but bearable) but crowd is impossible to call on a week by week basis, shitty one week, teams of asian models the next... go figure. $20 cover after 9pm Friday and Sat.
80% outdoor so can smoke freely

Ivy Pool: George Street
Although part of the same buidling (actually its pretty much a block) this is a seperate venue with separate door pickers, a different entrance and accessed via elevator. Used to be near impossible to get into without a membership, now pretty much no problem as long as you don't look like shit.
The main pool is, well basically a pool bar / cabana type thing, DJ's, older crowd than downstairs, some hot chicks but attitude to match. Much smaller than the main Ivy. Worth a look for novelty value but personally would just hit the main joint, younger chicks and a better selection. Figure on a $20 cover after 9 at weekend but if you're regular, very well dressed or the door whore just got a raise or something you'll slide in free.

Sundays they have a day party here in summer, have'nt been but will soon.

Cargo Bar: King Street Wharf
Pretty big, busy weekend venue, younger crowd (20-26), crappy electro music, usually a good amount of girls.

Bungalow 8: King Street Wharf
Much the same as above, classier looking venue in my opinion. Has a seperate bar called Loft upstairs that's harder to get into, smaller but usually hotter chicks and better beats. Also a good date spot.

After Hours spots: (3am onwards)
You have failed in your mission and wish to continue? or you want to bounce with your swoopee for more lubricating drinks?

Spice: Elizabeth Street (Martin place)
Underground dance spot close to all the George St venues and Ivy, go;s through til 11am on weekend, very credible house music policy. This is also a daytime restaurant and cocktail venue hence it looks classy and the drinks are dope. Bouncers also friendly. Usually a bit of a cockfest but some cute, and cool chicks around sometimes, tend to be friendly also. $20ish

121: Pitt St (I think), behind an alley.
Younger crowd than Spice, again, underground house, techno, cetainly possible to pick up a trashed young un here at 5am.

Arq: Taylor Square (Oxford Street)
Cavernous gay club, don't go if you are offended by bare male chests, however, friendly environment, always pockets of girls kicking on and for some reason, often a high ratio of Asian honeys $25

Colombian: Oxford Street
Ostensibly gay, cool 2 level bar with nice beats (deep house). Usually a decent amount of girls but quality wise a roulette wheel, pretty trashy. free

Goldfish: Kings X
Cool bar / club, kicks off after 3am, always good music and wasted girls

Managed to get into Ivy Pool Room last winter. (still packed!) Thought the crowd was very young, the girls pretentious (don't get me started about the moronic upper middle class ethos) and the vibe right off. Bailed and went to Kings Cross and by that time it was too late to get into "cooler" establishments (can't remember the names) But I immediately noticed how much hotter the girls were outside these places than at Ivy.

Sydney is a notoriously shallow city, but it can be good for a night out. The good news is, if you can scope out Kings Cross, then that is largely the best place to be it seems to me.

I do feel like it's worth posting but I feel that the Sugar Mill is worth trying out on a Monday night (in season). That's their big night. Located in Kings Cross and full of backpacker chicks.

Bit of local advice. Steer clear of the Ivy - douchebags from the West who measure their self-worth with how many cocaine they have. Go if you want to see an Aussie version of Jersey Shore. I kid you not, I went one Saturday night a few months ago and saw this guy walk around with his 'boxing' gear on (shorts, gloves and no shirt), telling girls he had just finished 'training'.

Stick to the small bars in Surry Hills, Darlinghurst or Newtown and open there, then venue change (as these often close at midnight) to said pub or club. 'Flinders' particularly just off Oxford street is awesome.

If I was showing someone Sydney, I'd even advise to steer clear of Kings cross (the only HALF decent clubs/bars being Kings Cross Hotel or World Bar). If you can listen to FLo Rida and Katy Perry then by all means check out our backpackers clubs. I wish I was more flexible at listening to shit cunts and horrible music.

Sydney is awesome in summer though - beaches/weather/festivals. For nightlife though, i'd recommend gettin in touch with locals or checking out some local sites/events

Sound advice.

In Sydney it's better to go to smaller, less 'exclusive', even grungy bars. Cheaper booze, better music, and friendlier people.

The Courthouse in Newtown is one of Sydney's best pubs. Another one worth checking out is The Abercrombie in Broadyway, near UTS. Saturday nights they get decent djs in. No cover charge and cheaper booze as well.

I am in Sydney now and Ive been for 2 days. Still getting a grip on the right approach & game angles. Seems just like the US, but game is still very different.

I wasnt a huge fan of Sydney for gaming. Found the girls hot yes, but very un-feminine (even compared to the U.S. or W.Europe) behavior wise. Also found it a very competitive game environment - all the Aussie guys are tall, tanned, in good shape and aggressive about approaching girls. I'd usually rely on exactly those factors differentiating me from the crowd in other places, didnt like losing my competitive advantage!

Beautiful city beach/weather/park wise, though.
