I only read half the 4hr work week, there was too much information that was of no interest to me, such as justifying giving up your day job. I have never needed any encouragement in this regard, jobs suck.

If you want to learn about being location independent, building, residual income, freelancing etc then you should spend time in business forums.

Most sane people will not share their secrets with you, but every so often someone can't wait to brag about his niche methods on Ebay etc

I was tempted to write some ebooks about my business methods, but then saw sense and realised that the revenues that I make will be drop in the ocean compared to the lost revenue from a bunch of new competitors.

People don't usually give their secrets away, when they do you have to be suspect at least somewhat.

I still recommend 4HWW. but this "muse life" ain't easy.

As far as the 100 startup being competition to 4hww, it's not likely it will get anywhere near the popularity of ferriss' book, even if it's content is more actionable.

I'll take a look at lean startup.

Noemon, I'm still waiting to hear what your business is that makes $5000 per month and only takes 1 - 2 hours a week. I haven't read this guy’s books but I've investigated some and things and most pay low and take a long time to ramp up to really make big money.
I’m very skeptical of statements like:
“there is a snowboarder who makes $300k/yr by producing and selling snowboarding videos, a guy who makes $120k/yr off a reference book he published for complicated software that previously had no reference book”

I remember some woman that was featured on some internet site or the news saying she made $300,000 on her yoga or exercise videos. It all sounds nice but show me the proof. Work the numbers on it and it becomes very hard to do. Just say you can make $10 profit on a video. She/he has to sell 10,000 videos!
Also many guys I’ve know that claim they have internet business and make big money while they travel are just bull shitters. Two of them when I investigated their websites there was nothing there but one page. They are basically just trust fund babies or supported by their parents.
Blogging for a living is everyone’s dream job. I'm looking into it too, but I think it is a hard thing to do. First of all you have to get advertising money. That is very slow to build up. He told me he made $2000 last month through dedicated advertisers because he gets a ton of traffic. Also he works on his websites as much as 40 hours per week, I'm guessing! He is location independent, but hardly pulling down $5000 for 2 hours work! For those 10 years he worked on getting this off the ground, his parents supported him!

Someone mentioned you couldn't blog for lizards. Well Roosh does it. I've also noticed that many PUA books are now on EBay being sold for 10 cents on a dollar too. So a blogger or writer has problem now keeping their original books even theirs. Ebay is supposed to only allow EBooks by the author but I doubt they are enforcing this. I see the internet is a great place to make additional money, but for most of us it can't quickly replace our 9 to 5 job!

Roosh, I'd love to hear about the trials and tribulations of "blogging for lizards" to make a living!

For 99% of bloggers, the money isn't in the blogging itself. It's self promo in order to gain enough credibility to sell other products or services, gain connections, or achieve a small level of e-fame (which can have value). Speaking of which, I need to start a blog.

Making money on the net is just entrepreneurship in a fast paced environment. You have to forge a path without clear directions because shit changes all the time. Copying what someone else does rarely works. It isn't easy, so most don't succeed.

Personally not interested in blogging, I'm far too lazy these days. I'm a business man, I like to sell products and services.

I know people who have the 4hr work week method down to a T. I'm not quite there yet, bit I will be.

Outsourcing is a nice game to get into. I live in Europe where the average salary can be as low as 150 euros. Say no more.

I have a private coaching business that gives me 3/4 of my income
and a "promotion" business that provides the other 1/4
These are both service-oriented businesses - not physical products or digital ebooks etc
the reason it now takes so little time is because i have set systems that do the work.
I have outsourced employees , between 1-6 depending on the project - besed in various SE Asia locations
My employees do all the "grunt" work and i do the actual coaching. The way i set it up - it does take 1-2 hours per week
The last 3-4 weeks that i' ve been travelling i have spend a total of 2.5 hours of work - for all 4 weeks combined.
I did have some extra communication with my employees - but this was for new, unrelated project that i am thinkinf of starting and i wanted them to research it - not part of my work week
Once again, keep in mind I am not making 50,000 per month - it is around 5,000$ - so while it is definitely more than enough , it is not anything legendary

There's definitely some good information on these forums, people share some great ideas but there's a lot of shit too. A lot of people will just take the information they found on the forum, repackage it as a new ebook and sell it on to dumb newbies who think they can just buy an ebook and get rich. They expect there to be a magical button they can press and hey presto the moneys rolling in, most of them never take action which is why one of the best niches to exploit is the 'making money online' niche as so many people want to get into it.

There's a ton of gigs on fiverr claiming that for just $5 you'll get an ebook that will make you thousands a month from this, that and the next thing. They have 100% positive reviews yet we all know that anyone making thousands a month from something isn't going to sell his method for $5. The reason that people give good reviews is because they read the book think it sounds easy and give a good rating but they never actually implement it or try any of it out. Too much like work, they just want free money.

Sounds exactly like PUA to me. A bunch of guys who never dated. They were virgins into their 20s, then found the magical way to Pick Up girls. Just send them lots of dollars $$$$ and then sign up for boot camp if you need remedial or extra help and then you can have any girl you want!!!

I ordered it and started reading. Our good ole language expert Benny (Fluent in 3 months) is in the book.

I enjoy reading books like this just to see some of the markets people are making money in. Most times you are not going to learn how to start, build and maintain a business from books like these.

Deb Auchery - you say Outsourcing. What are you outsourcing? What does that mean? Is is what produces the income you live on?

Noemon - coaching and outsourcing? What do you coach and what do you outsource that produces $5000 a month?

Around the World with 80 Trades is interesting fiction. He would get killed trying to get his products over the border and through customs. The show is as real as Apprentice is on how Corporate Business in NYC works. I’ve worked there and the show is a joke and is for people who have never worked in the real Corporate World.

I had seen the Scamworld video a while back. Very interesting stuff. I plan to read the website. A friend of mine has been taken by those blood suckers twice because he wants to believe there is easy money out there.

So tell us what you consider the right places to be. BHW, Warrior forum etc are great places to learn about making money online & affiliate marketing amongst other things but you have to learn to work out what is bullshit and what is real. The article you linked to seems more about scam artists taking money from people and promising to make them rich only to dissapear with it, that's not the sort of thing I see on those forums.
