I wouldn't assume that she is interested, but there is no harm in treating her like a girl you just met during daygame and trying to create something more from it. Just don't be desperate.

Depends on the girl and context. It could certainly mean she wants you, but not necessarily. If she see's you as a friend zoned orbiter it means diddly. Also, ex's will sometimes send birthday wishes when they really don't give a shit. Whatever, game anyway.

Two things come to mind:
1). She probably wants to stand out and get your attention, which wouldn't happen if they posted on the wall like everyone else.
2). She's trying to be discreet, because she a). Might have a boyfriend or (happened to me)
b). She could be friends with an ex and she doesn't want to seem like a whore, so she's doing this on the DL.

In either event, game it.

It's an opening for you to dig and see if there's significance to her sending you a private message. She could have done it publicly on her FB wall, but didn't, so respond with appreciation and game on.

Most girls wouldn't text happy birthday to guys without a reason, they'll write on your wall. I would only assume she's interested if you know her somewhat well. If she really liked you though, she'd call.

I think it just means happy birthday, lots of girls prefer messaging over wall posts and this obviously depends on your relationship. If you know her and she says an inside joke or whatever in the wish then take the lead. If the message is simply happy bday, I would just reply thanks depending on if a reply is needy or not- how well I know her/do I give a shit.
