A bunch of gibberish, thats all the gun control debate is.

You can go point-counterpoint with someone all day. In my line of work we occasionally run into something along the lines of this, the so called "what if" debate. You can "what if" all day, develop every plan for every possible outcome, and plans for the outcomes of those initial plans, and plans for the outcome of the plans of the outcome. Just a bunch of mental masturbation from the mouths of the knights of the retardation table.

Pro-gun activists will never convince anti-gun. Anti-gun activists will never convince pro-gun. Why? Because you have to be an irrational person to be an activist in the first place.

A rational person will step back, take some time to ponder both sides of the argument, make a decision, but also understand and respect the views of the other side.

An irrational person (activist, feminist, politician) will blatantly ignore the argument of the other side. Like having a debate with a record player, nothing you can say will change what the record says. Sure they will listen to your argument, but not in the way a rational person will. A rational person will listen and weigh the pros and cons of your major points. An irrational person will listen to your argument looking and waiting for a weakness. You can have 99 valid points, but if you have one questionable one that is all they will focus on in an attempt to discredit you.

So what does the gun control debate (and damn near every other major political issue) boil down to? A bunch of irrational people arguing with a bunch of other irrational people. Shit gives me a migraine.

So why do I keep my door locked? Why do I keep my Mossberg in the corner next to my bed? Why do I keep my AR-15 in my trunk and my 1911 in my glove compartment? Is it because I am pro-gun? No, its because I have no moral qualms of unleashing a fury of hate on anyone that poses a valid threat to my life. And I don't shoot to wound. I pray for anyone that feels differently. I pray that the evil that is out there doesn't cross their path. Because I have seen that evil, I have stared into its soul as it stared back into mine.

So when evil knocks at the door, whatever time it chooses, you had better be damn ready to defend yourself. Its up to you to choose how to do it.

When I was a kid and lived in Holland we went on holiday to the States. My dad removed the hatch door in the hallway by our back door. It led to a crawl space under the house. He then sharpened some bamboo sticks, rubbed the sharp ends in dog shit and stuck them in the ground. He then covered the open hatch with a rug. Our area was rough and there had been burglaries. I remember how excited I was the whole holiday hoping that we had been burgled and we'd come back to find a skewered burglar. Unfortunately we were never burgled.

If I lived in the US now I'd do something similar. The place seems fucking dangerous with home invasions and shit. I know you guys hate on us Europeans but I would not swap for anything. The most I have to worry about in regards to my home here is someone stealing my wheelie bin or drunks putting a traffic cone on my car roof on a Friday night. I can't imagine anyone trying to break into my home whilst I was in it and attacking me. Even on our roughest estates you don't hear of that. How do you guys sleep easily at night??

I hear you but how is it to live in a land where you only feel safe if you have that Glock? I sleep well every night knowing nobody will try to come in or if they do they would run as soon as I switch the hallway light on. I don't think anyone hates on Europeans. If anything, most guys on this forum would rather live in Europe than America.

The Glock just makes it less messy. My house is full of things I could use to kill an intruder. Tactical lights to blind while I close the distance and behead them with a razor sharp machete. You know, one of those that they use in Africa. Nasty shit, and it makes for an issue in court later.

Being on guard all the time is a part of life. Being unprepared will turn your situation 20x worse. Self defense, job interview, 1st date. This principle is across the board. People live in fear out of pure ignorance. No other reason.

@anti-trace- Gun control should never be debated, it's a constitutional right.

After going through this thread I can see why gun ownership may almost be a necessity in the US.

For all its faults, Canada does have lower crime rates than the US. We do have our shitty cities with high crime rates like Winnipeg but at least in Toronto you can feel pretty safe without a gun as long as you are out of a couple of areas such as Jane-Finch etc.

That's why I'm getting in all my travels to Europe within the decade. Unless the Chinese buy up so much of Europe they kick out the muslims (actually, European countries should focus on sucking up more to the Chinese, an asian ran europe would never put up with this shit).

This is why, suprisingly, I'm bullish on Canada. While the rest of the west imports poor and angry immigrants, Canada imports poor and hungry immigrants (well, rich ones too). As America Brazilifies (in terms of crime and social dysfunction, the girls will be even uglier), Canada may end up a safe haven from a fucked up world.

I'm not saying we don't have bad shit happen here but once in your home you feel safe ( unless maybe you live on a very rough estate ) in the EU, however in the US it seems that even in leafy suburbia you can have these nut jobs run in whilst your at home and attack you. Some of those 911 calls are insane. Women having to hide in crawl spaces with their kids in the middle of the day and some nutter coming looking for her to do god knows what to her and the kids. It's a different world.
