I am sure some people on this forum feel the rage build up within us. Eventually, us right-wingers will just get pissed off and go on a rage that will end up slaughtering left-wingers.

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
This forces people in Eich's position to pull a Michael Jordan "Republicans buy shoes too" move. Don't take sides, so to protect your money. And again, we aren't talking about free speech. We're talking about the consequences of speech when others don't agree, which is also free speech. Corporations are concerned about their money, so they react by firing, or asking the "offending" individual to step down. Some will sit back and wait to see if the bottom line is affected before acting, while others will panic and try to get ahead of it for fear that the bottom line will be affected.

Today I read Derek Sivers' "Anything You Want," and he wrote that in business, you can't try to be all things to all people. You can't be afraid to exclude. Now of course, he didn't mean you should go out and intentionally insult any group or individual, but you should stay true to whatever your mission is, and don't be afraid to lose someone along the way. It's difficult to be all things to all people, but it also depends on the business you're in. If you're in the software business, all kinds of people use your product, so openly stating a particular political/social stance is going to result in someone disagreeing or being offended in some way. You need to be REALLY committed to whatever position you publicly advocate, because there's going to be heat. I only wish more companies would simply take the heat. Sivers was unique in that all he really cared about was helping people (in his case, it was independent musicians), and only wanted to make enough money to continue doing that. Corporations care about profits, because they have to answer to shareholders, etc. and don't want to see even the smallest dip in profits. That's just the reality.

"The best kind of pride is that which compels a man to do his best when no one is watching."

I may be mistaken, but didn't the political donation in question become public knowledge as a result of the (now long forgotten) illegal IRS disclosure of donors to conservative groups? If so, what has just happened is that a government organ (the IRS) outed Eich for "crime think" and he was subsequently destroyed. Scary shit and this is why I'm going back to Asia as soon as fiscally possible. Fuck this shit.

You are mistaken, here's the database

Seriously, things don't need to be a conspiracy to be all fucked up. People worrying about black helicopters when citizens get profiled and then halted by cops for looking a certain way. People give away their information online for free. Like Snowden even matters.

The thing that's forgotten, those in the "oppose gay marriage" crowd, generally take pride in opposing it.

If the opposition left it alone, then it would infuriate the liberals (they'd have no reason to act catty - they'd only be able to argue with themselves). The opposition doesn't realize it. They should.

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
I remember posting this a few years ago. Manny Pacquiao got banned from the biggest mall in L.A. because he was opposed to same sex marriage on religious grounds.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/20...marks.html

Not sure if the ban is still in place but the fact that anyone had the audacity to ban someone for expressing an opinion that is still pretty mainstream is astounding. What angers me most is how smug and sanctimonious these pro-gay people are. They want no debate on the topic. It's reflexively compared to interracial marriage as if that's even comparable. A man and a woman of different races can produce a child. Two men cannot. And if you don't agree, you hate. There's no in between with them. You simply hate gays and you're a bigot to the core if you don't fully accept homosexuality as equally ideal as heterosexuality.

Just un-installed firefox. Now using Opera. I assume though that the developers of Opera (based in Norway) would prob launch a progressive inquisition too if their CEO wasn't toeing the party line, but until then, I'm using them.

Is TOR a browser or just a proxy?

What's funny is that when this guy gave money to oppose Prop 8 in California, Obama was still on record as being opposed to gay marriage.

No ideological consistency here at all. It's just an Internet mob looking for victims of opportunity.

Silicon Valley used to be about making new technology. It was about being able to innovate and produce. It is now all about PC-compliance, which will kill the real engineering culture.

It's been said before that the social media revolution was all about getting women to use computers.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Interesting observation. And very true.

It wasn't that long ago that women shunned the internet. Now with social media and smartphones they seem to be more addicted than men.

Using Opera Browser at the moment. It's pretty cool actually. Chromium is another alternative(all the benefits of Chrome with privacy in mind)

Firefox has been having some serious memory leaks as of late. I'm not uninstalling just yet as I need to transfer my bookmarks first.

Yeah it's funny how the different sexes became interested in computers(phones, tablets, etc.).

It took video games which require thinking, fast reflexes, strategy, practice, etc. to get men interested.

It took attention whoring and demonstrating high social value on the interwebz for women to get addicted.

Hah.

It just goes to show that ancient differences in gender behavior are still with us despite claims that it's all socially constructed.

Women need attention to feel secure.. if they didn't have attention they'd have to fend for themselves in ancient times.

Men like video games because they resonates with the natural hunter instincts.

The ancient human is very much alive today. Our ideas may have evolved, but our bodies are thousands of years older.

Exactly. This is all related to money, and Mozilla really jumped the gun on this one. It sucks how careful public figures have to be when they speak and act.

Firefox has been a huge piece of shit for me lately as well. I get the memory leaks in addition to a lot of crashes brought on by Flash. Is it possible to switch to another browser and still import all my bookmarks and favorites?

RE: Mozilla CEO fired for supporting Prop 8
I also do not understand the arguments used in support of gay marriage.

Look at the comment section arguments:

Benjamin Neilsen
Quote:He opposes gay marriage, not necessarily gay people. There is a difference. You're more intolerant than he ever was. Just because you've decided something is not an issue doesn't make people who still think it is pieces of shit. Use your head. Thirty years ago people would have acted like your position is bizarre. The fact that it's not so different to think like you do now doesn't mean you suddenly represent the de facto correct perspective. So stop acting like you get to be a big tough guy just because it's ok to be gay now. He can be against gay marriage, and pressuring him to be out because of it is patently asinine. . . .you piece of shit Smile

Liberal reply:

Dee Dee Mendoza · Smith
Quote:Benjamin Neilsen There is not a difference between opposing gay marriage and opposing gay people. If you oppose gay marriage, you are in effect saying that you don't believe gays and lesbians should have the same protections, rights, and choices as straight people--and THAT in effect means that you believe gays and lesbians are not as good as straights and that their relationships should not be valued as highly as heterosexual relationships. It's deeply bigoted and offensive. He has every right to feel this way, but it's fair that Mozilla's audience rejected his leadership based on his bigotry.

Protections and rights the same as who? Marriage doesn't give anyone any protections. If anything, marriage is a liability to be assraped in divorce court. But I know fags love taking it up the ass, so perhaps that is why they want marriage so badly? lol

Also, I don't know anyone in their right mind who believes homosexual relationships are as valuable as heterosexual relationships. Even most gays I know will admit as much. Most gay men I know don't believe gays are suitable for marriage, since gays just live in a huge hook-up universe. Maybe 20% of gays actually find monogamy but the overwhelming majority are just looking for the next bang.
