Things To Consider

1. Since Columbine teachers have been trained to get kids in their classrooms and lock the doors if there is an attack on students going on in the building.
2. Most schools are overcrowded. Chances are he didn't run up and stab 20 people, he charged through a crowd flailing like a mad man.
3. If he was "that kid", the one everyone knew was going to snap and kill someone one day, people might have ran like hell the minute he pulled any type of weapon. Most people know better than to fuck with crazy.
4. Most teachers probably would have thought it was a fight at first, and the usual mode of operation for breaking up a fight is to let it go on for a little bit. Let the kids get some of that aggression out. Having one person thanking for getting their ass saved makes fights a lot easier to break up than wading in between a few furious and out of control teenagers.

Sheesh do other countries have this fucking problem? Why do pussy-motherfuckers keep on killing innocent fucking people minding their own business? As a high-schooler in America this shit pisses me off.

I already plan my routes between classes to avoid the fucking weirdos who seem like they would shoot up (stab up?) a school and it seems that attacks get more and more frequent. It seems like one every 4-5 months now. They need to get the teachers armed in public schools. The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun (or knife) is a good guy with a gun. This one police-officer bullshit that my schools has isn't going to cut it when some crazy motherfucker tries to kill everybody. My friends' school across the lake got a bomb threat last year because of "rich kids". My school's fucking rich as hell so that makes me worry too.

But seriously, does this shit happen anywhere but the USA?

Yes, it does happen in other western countries (Western Europe).

The theme seems to be "western countries" or countries where the average man is treated like shit. If the average guy is treated like shit, then the just below average guy has almost zero chance in our society. So a chance of one of them snapping increases.

It was a sticky situation.

He had some issues with the system and he made them see his point.

I feel bad for the kids that got stuck by him in class.

He took a stab at educational reform.

Him and the state budget both cut security in the schools.

Not the sharpest plan of attack.

And switch, I went to a poor as hell highschool and we got bomb threats too (from our special ed gang, actually... all the mentally off kids made their own gang and threatened to shoot/blow up the school on a roughly yearly basis).

Our culture creates this...
We broadcast these acts so heavily, and as a culture value public attention and validation so heavily, its bound to create problems in unstable individuals.
He made national news.
He's a celebrity for the moment.
This is most certainly a success to him.
And as a culture, that's really sad.

We are Rome... entertaining ourselves with the suffering of the weak and misfortunate.

And I agree with the mind altering drugs comment, mood uppers downers removers etc... treating the symptoms while just causing more problems.
Mood levelers for a few of my "bipolar" buddies completely ruined them... just made them emotionless zombies. But the doc prescribes it so people sign right on while he gets his percentage from the pharm company.

Some extended family members used to attend that high school no more than a couple years ago. Crazy that all that went down. Just thankful they are no longer there.

Actaully in Japan Stabbings (especially between midle schoolers and high schoolers) is a BIG BIG problem, I swear every few months I saw some shit about some kid stabbing some other kid at school on the news.
