NYC is trying to make gaming women just a little bit harder for us.
These signs are are starting to pop up in the subways lately.

I'm sure they're aimed at the naive tourists. But still.

This is just another way to keep people from communicating with one another, may as well just build individual rat/mouse tubes for us to walk around in.

How about "Please do not ramble psychotically"? I encountered that on the subway at least every few weeks, and it made passengers uncomfortable.

It's classic divide and conquer. Make people afraid of each other so they'll rely on police to "protect" them. God forbid you meet new people and develop relationships.

New mayor DeBlasio off to a rocking start...threatening to raise taxes, reducing police presence, couldn't get the snow plowed effectively this winter from what I was told.

In my home country ( Senegal), people can easily start conversations in public transportation, without any problem.

I think the main difference is that the West is more centered towards the individual, as opposed to African countries, at least the Black African ones.

indeed, and that is why I love it here. What used to be 'backward values' are now the last bastions of everyday social interaction.

Someone smiling at someone else must be paying attention to the world around them instead of staring down at their phone.

Govt will make all the usual excuses "This will reduce street harassment" "Women will feel safer" all BS.

Next it will be eye contact as a form of aggression, then holding hand with someone/or your child is a form of abduction.

And as Parlay just said, its classic divide and conquer....and the scary thing is, it will become normalized within a few months especially in a busy and bustling city like Manhattan where people are too stressed out.

Could see this sort of thing being implemented in London, as it shares a similar mentality to NY.

I always got a bunch of smiles from the guys when I went to the Walmart next to my apartment. It made me uncomfortable and self conscious! I always wamted to ask whats so funny! What are you smiling at! I figured it was just southern hospitality or they were gay. Probably.
