Probably Korea too.

With the people I roll in Hungary, I could say exactly the same.

Double post: But let me tell you one thing. Unless said country has a historical rivalry with yours, the problem is mostly inside your head. I've known friends who slay in Venezuela, and they are Colombians. 2 years ago, they would have been detained right out of the plane.

I'm still trying to figure out if being Canadian in the USA is a bad thing or not, probably depends on the state.

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

In the upper Midwest, it's probably a wash. Everywhere else, I'd say it's either a wash or a slight disadvantage. It won't really help you anywhere, but could only hurt you a little bit.

I'd generally agree with this but from a northeasterner's standpoint. Most people I've known have only mentioned Canadians in the context of hockey or "talking funny". Of course, eastern Ontario is right along the New York border; and then Québec is right next to that. Some of New Brunswick is adjacent to the very fringes of Maine, too.

RE: Countries in which being a foreigner is a noticeable minus
Thank you for the interesting and highly relevant responses!

I get the impression that it would be accurate to state that the general rule of thumb is that in Mediterranean countries it's somewhat harder to "crack the code" (as an outsider) than in Northern European ones when it comes to dating. The novelty factor associated with foreigners is often more likely to work its magic in Northern Europe (which of course by no means makes them ideal or overly advantageous for foreigners). I concur with the sentiment that the Baltic countries (culturally similar to both Northern and Eastern Europe) are places where women often feel that they are treated chivalrously/with respect and are likely to express a high degree of satisfaction with their own countrymen.

On the other hand, in Asia it's somewhat the opposite as compared to Europe - the more northern East Asian cultures (the Wiki article on North Korea and its obsession with ethnic/racial purity is really eye-opening) definitely tend to be more insular than Southeast Asian ones (one has to factor in the former's higher level of economic development and the influence of Confucianism on the mentality of people).

The Balkan countries are a mixed case - the Westernization that has occurred over the last ten years has made them somewhat less clannish and traditional, though I would say (based on conversations I have had with friends who know Turks and Albanians) that Turkey and Albania would be quite difficult for foreigners, as people are often pressured to stick to members of the same ethnicity or similar social circle when marrying. It's no surprise that Albania, in particular, is off-the-beaten path for foreigners interested in applying gaming techniques.

LOL, but to be fair if you went to a high end Bangkok club and tried to game upper class Thai girls it is not necessarily that easy. Thailand gets its reputation cause of the sleazy stuff going on but "real" Thai girls are not all that easy and maybe even be closed off from foreigners cause they don't want to be thought of as a whore.

^Why do you think I made the post? I was being serious.

Being a foreigner is a huge negative in Thailand, even if people don't seen it when they first arrive. Even middle class is iffy outside of Bangkok and some real touristy areas.

I've posted about this extensively in the travel forums, and while some debate it, most long-termers agree. It takes game to get quality in Thailand, though it can be hard to understand what quality is when you're coming from the West and hyped up about being abroad.

Well it takes game to get quality anywhere, just sometimes as a foreigner you have an advantage with the 5's and 6's due to the exotic factor in some cases. But the 8's, 9's and 10's aren't just going to get with you because you're foreign. You need to game them.

RE: Countries in which being a foreigner is a noticeable minus
Its true that higher quality ones can be harder anywhere but in Thailand due to the heavy prostitution scene and the association with whites being sleazy backpackers or old guys paying for young girls, it can be really hard to get normal girls. Average is ridiculously easy here, probably because there are so many guys that become gay and some even become ladyboys (aka not only dont want girls, but actually hook up with guys...). So average is easy if they are into white, but higher class, hi so girls I find only 1/5 will even talk to you in the higher end nightclubs. But on the bright side, a lot of hot girls in there so its not THAT bad if you come from a western country. But if I was aiming purely for hot girls, Romania is better for example (being a foreigner is neutral at least).

I've been here around 7 months now and going out a lot... If you go to mixed places like route66 or worse, sukhumvit 11 or kao san road and you get a non hooker, sure they are much easier, but the thai girls that go there are usually average to cute and are looking for westerners (or else they usually go to thai nightclubs)

RE: Countries in which being a foreigner is a noticeable minus
I think, as a general rule, the more touristy a country is, the less likely the girls are to care if you are a foreigner or not. It's the reason why countries like Spain, France, Italy, Greece, ect. are some of the worst. Thousands of foreigners have gone to these countries for decades so the 'foreignerness factor" has worn off. Conversely, if you go to countries that don't get that many visitors, usually you are more desirable. There are some general exceptions of course, such as perhaps the Philippines or Peru.

Yes, of course, but that's still a drastically different story than the typical guy paints after a visit to the Land of Smiles.

Where did that come from? Might be true if you're also acting like a mexican lawnmower. A good locking dude with black hair and eyes, cool attitude and good accent or even Swedish speaking would make a killing in Sweden. Even better than a black dude I guess.

This is true. However if one is doing good in a western high end club I think they'd do pretty decent in a Bangkok one as well.

Thailand is easy. Problem is when one has been here for a while and been through a few girls you upped your standards, and are only interested in the top quality girls. And those girls are hard as basically every living dude would like to bang them.

I think most girls, and even guys, would prefer to have a relationship with someone of the same nationality. They want someone as similar to them as possible. Just makes life more easy, but also less exciting.

RE: Countries in which being a foreigner is a noticeable minus
Context is important. South Korea can be hard on foreigners. However, in certain situations, being a foreigner will help. For example, in the bigger cities if you are in good physical shape, dress-up (tailored suits), and act like you know you're a big shot, the women will take notice because they are wondering who you are. If you look like you're military or an English teacher, you may have to choose different, selected venues to strut your stuff.

It's similar in Japan, except not as harsh as S. Korea. Based on my recent experience in India, it also applies there as well.

RE: Countries in which being a foreigner is a noticeable minus
From my experiences in Thailand the dating hierarchy goes something like this:

1) Hi so thai guys. Obvious first dibs like most countries with the upper class. They tend to date heavily within their social circle though.

2) middle class thais & assimilated middle/upper class foreign asians with language skills.

3) Luk Kreung (mixed thais) even if they can't speak thai well will still get good home team consideration. They can be in category #1 and #2 too.

4) Good looking foreign men from mainstream developed countries in NE Asia, anglosphere, or europe. Non thai-speakers mainly.

5) Other SE Asians with decent jobs, education, etc..

6) Ugly developed country dudes with no game or old sex tourists.

7) Blacks, arabs, indians. Must have money and game.

8) Poor SE Asians.

I found Budapest surprisingly difficult. Was only there for 1 night and went to Dokk Bar (think that's what it was called) Got mistaken for a spanish guy, when i informed the girl that i was English she started acting all snooty.

Germany is a puzzle. Westerners will have a very difficult time (I wrote an ROK article on how American military and academic exchange programs influence this) while Turkish or middle easterners flood clubs and bog down ratios.

It's not that German chicks are inherently more open to them, they have just watered down the pool to such a high degree - while forbidding their own women from dating outside - that you're better off elsewhere. It's not uncommon to see a 75% "Brown" male ratio in larger cities like Hamburg or Berlin.

This question (and the responses) implicitly address the first moment (mean/average) and neglect the second moment (variance).

You'll get laid a lot more in a country/region where girls either love or hate you than where the girls are indifferent about you.

This would unify the claims about Sweden in this thread--the median girl may not want anything to do with foreign-looking guys, but there could simultaneously be a size-able contingent that is sufficiently curious about them.

Same applies for any country/region of oft-debate around here.

Maybe I'll write a thread on modeling traveling and banging girls as a function of mean and variance some time.

POLAND

Foreigners (hordes of spanish, italians and portuguese men) bang the fatties,
the hipsters, the feminists with tattooss and piercings

Almost exclusively polish local men get the rare hot polish girls.

Poland was great in 2000 - 2005, but now being a foreigner it works totally against you Sad
