Everyone in my family has tattoos though. My dad had a lot, even one on his ear lobe and one going down onto his hand. He got them back in the 60's and 70's. He'd tell me how in his day only outlaws and criminals had them, but now everyone has them. My dad even had some jailhouse tats where the ink was made with burned paper and some other crap. They got them because they were all outlaw bikers and tattoos were another way to set themselves apart from society and basically say fuck you. My uncle even had "Fuck You" tattooed inside of his lower lip and would flip it down at cops. Now I see 21 year old girls who get the same tattoo thinking they are hard.

I have zero interest in tattoos. Most of my friends have them, but I don't like them.

Tattoos and piercings only look good on a very small minority of people who live the lifestyle. If someone is trying to appropriate that image it's fairly easy to see through it. Then they need to look at why they are doing it.

I don't have any tattoos but...

..my clear skin IS my artistic expression.

In a nation where many men are getting tattoos, I prefer to be different.

My clear skin represents:

- Pure Potential (I can become anything I want)
- Innocence (I was born innocent/the world corrupted me)
- The Light-Wave Function (our bodies are made of particles/particles can become light/We are light)
- A Blank Canvas (The artist can create anything he wants)

My body is my work of art. I have been building and sculpting my body for years.

I love tattoos, and my unpopular opinion is that they actually raise a girl's sexiness factor substantially. I've been banging a bartender in the West Village recently in large part because I dig her sleeves (and big tits, to be fair).

What a lot of people don't understand is that tattoos can't give you a masculine presence if you don't already have one, which is why we see all these hipsters with "ironic" ink. But if they're congruent with your personality that's a different story. One of my best friends is an ex-running back with multiple Sailor Jerry tats, and they look amazing.

The trick is just picking something with meaning and aesthetic appeal. It's tough, which is why I'm only now getting my first piece after almost three decades.

I also stand out because I have none.

It's rare that older people (+50) have tattoos or piercings here, but a shitload of people younger than 35 got something. About 10 years ago tattoos became incredible trendy, tattoo workshops were set up everywhere and people started to tattoo stupid things on each other when they were drunk and wasted.

I don't like tattoos or piercings.
They attract a different breed of people at least up here, and I have no interested of being associated with them.

I have a bunch fo tattoos on my chest, back and arms. I went to the high school prom with a girl older than me whose father was the owner of the big tattoo place in town. I was simply in a low class group of white kids for a while. All high IQ, but sadly our parents were low class and it rubbed off.

If I had to do it over again Id go without, but my tattoos are generally well recieved by women and men alike.

Thought about both a few times -- and even then it'd be something and somewhere fairly discreet.

For want of sounding like a toff, I was brought up in a household and schooling environment where tatts and piercings just weren't the done thing, and associated with the underclass -- generally borne if you're a manual worker, prisoner or prostitute.

Even in my twenties, my parents (and siblings, less so) would doubtless faint were I to even bring up the idea of getting one.

It's also tricky getting one that doesn't scream "Look at me I'm a fucking hipster!", and I have the idea that if you don't carry off the right look for one, you'd appear like a massive try-hard.

I haven't ruled one out altogether, but for the moment, my only embellishments are my physique.

No tattoos or piercings here. I considered both when I was in my early 20's and I'm glad I didn't go through with either - especially a tattoo. I'm such a different person now, compared to who I was then, that I'm sure I would have regretted whatever ink I'd gotten by now.

No tattoos or piercings. But I get this nagging voice in my head telling me to get one. I once drew up the actual tattoos I wanted but most likely will never go through with it.
