Bumping this thread since I had my pictures done a couple of weeks ago.

I don't believe it has been mentioned in this thread but get a makeup artist if you can (or ask if it's included in the price as it was in my case). It might sound gay as hell but if you're going to spend that much money, might as well maximize your results. I showed up with tired, baggy eyes and the girl took care of it. It takes only a couple of minutes and makes a big difference!

Facebook and Instagram are heavily underrated tools for social proof.

We live in a generation of social media stalkers; everyone's guilty of it. Which is why, like it or not, a bad profile can easily be a deal breaker.

I've realized that the quality of your posts and photos is unequivocally more important than the quantity.

All this being said though; social media game isn't worth anything if it can't be applied to your real life.

OP you are the true MVP!. I agreeo 100% in your recomendation. I would like to give the guys another good recomendation.
So in Tinder you have all this photos. I'll recommend if you don't go for the pro photos ( which I highly recommend as OP says) you can use this formula too.

1. Main Photo: A good picture fo yourself, not looking straight to the camera if possible. (avoid selfies or abs photo) Just a good photo showing the upper part of your body and face.
2. A trip photo: You went to China? You went to Europe/America?. It shows you have the means to travel $$$ and that you somehow are more interesting.
3. A photo of you doing a hobby/sport: Nothing to forced, but a good photo of you at the football field or with the gloves on (not showing off abs, not directly)
4. A photo of you having fun (optional): Having a drink by the balcony, avoid other girls in the photo

The rest of the photos more pro/looking photos of yourself as op said. If all this photos are of high quyality/ good lighting, the chances of pussy will be better of course. Bad lighting/low quality/ weird poses will not help you.

I got 8 high quality photos and my popularity online has shot up a lot.

I went from getting messaged 0 times a day to getting way more matches on tinder and even girls speaking with me first.

On one app that has a popularity rating, I went from below average popularity to super popular in the span of a few days after changing up my photos.

I've been setting up dates so we'll see what all becomes of this.

Either way, I just feel cooler having gotten myself some awesome photos.

Put an ad on Craigslist plenty of decent photographers looking for side work. I really could give two shits about the art of photography but I've found someone with at least a high end Camera can take what looks like celebrity grade photos.

I had a friend once who paid $150 for a camera guy (off of craigslist) to pretend to be paparazzi for a couple of hours while he went out to a few bars and pretended to be annoyed with the dude he hired.

Not only did he get laid but had people buying him drinks and wanting to take pics with him thus got a lot of Social Proof photos.

When I saw the photos the craigslist guy took I bet my friend could set up an online dating profile and say nothing on it and the photos would get him inquiry messages. Looked like some shit out of US Weekly.

He just told people he had no idea why this guy was following him taking photos and the guy he hired he instructed to tell people that would ask him who he was to get out of the shot he is working.

Well, in china EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING is on wechat, so I just asked a few of my friends who have been in the city for a while about photographers. They hit me up with 5 different photographers and I asked for samples.

I would start by asking friends who seem to be connected to parties or social life. There are always photographers in those circles.

Beyond that, I'd try and find someone on Instagram in my area. Social media is the route I'd go since you can actively sample their style without even asking.

@Cobra, I definitely need to rep this man. The forum definitely lost out on a special something when he left.

Great post, didn't read the entire thread so maybe someone else touched on this but if you don't want to pay for professional photographs search your area for TFP which stands for time for prints. Photographers need subjects for their photos and need images to use in their portfolio. Time for prints is basically you get a free photoshoot and sign a model release allowing them to use your photos in their portfolio or projects.

2 weeks ago I had no bites.

Last week they are coming out of the woodworks.

The bots are crazy these days though (if you are swiping 20-28, mostly they are 23-25 year old "girls")

Can anyone recommend a camera which would at least help to produce 'semi-pro' pictures.

I am going sailing for two weeks next month so I won't have a professional photographer onboard to take 'action' pictures so can anyone recommend a decent camera I could buy for the trip?

I'll talk about the 4 I use for online. I think using 8 totally shopped photos just looks too try hard.


Hmm, well they're simple, but i'll try to describe them as well as possible without sounding gay.

The one I get complimented the most on is me looking over a balcony with a white shirt and the sun on me.

I rock a shaven head. A few girls (and even one guy, wtf) have asked if I am a model based on this shot. I am slightly above average looking but certainly not a model.

Another one is of me sitting down and smiling. your classic sorta beta picture, but it is important to have this photo just because if you look too "hard" I think you can scare off chicks (especially asian girls).

Another is of me leaning up against a building looking sort of moody and mischevious. It's in black and white as well. I like this one the most. It look sorta hard,but it's a nice contrast to the other more light photos.

The other is of me looking off into the distance while leaning up against a building. I have one arm up. it's a very affected and "Model" pose but girls seem to really like this one.

The photographer retouched them nicely and everything. A few people even asked me who took the photos. So I am confident in her work. If you run through Shenzhen sometime I could set you up with her haha.

Honestly, this photographer actually specializes in women's shots so you have to keep that in mind when you look at them. I am sort of moody so that works. I was a bit hesitant at first, but she sat with me, spoke with me and allayed my fears haha. I am really not interested in photos but they're vital if you wanna run online game.

I'm not naturally photogenic but I think this photographer made me look good so I am pleased with the results.

Great thread and some useful information, but I also think this heavily depends on location. For example, I could see it working on European/Asian women. Conversely, Aussie girls (especially the younger ones) will think you're lame/geeky for booking a professional photo shoot and go straight for the muscular guy posing shirtless at the beach or the good looking guy doing a Geordie Shore pose with his mates.

You don't need your photos to be heavily shopped, although having them taken with a professional camera certainly helps and makes you look, well...more professional.

But even the pics you take with your phone should follow some rules. Men, especially older men, shouldn't take those creepy ass selfies where it's just you in the picture, with nothing in the background. Honestly, I think it makes you look like a wanker and I'm afraid that girls catch the same vibe. The only time I'd post a selfie is when I'm with a friend and there's something awesome in the background (city skyline, mountains.)

And yes, in most of my pics I look away from the camera and make it look like I'm /doing/ something.

Different things work for different guys. I think what Blurred was communicating here is that your pictures should say something about you.

Some dudes can put up a shirtless selfie because it is congruent, other guys can't. Trial and error are king here. I'm interested in integrating more action shots into my photo collection and seeing how those do.

Hey this is only slightly on topic.

I'm really bad at taking pictures and am really unphotogenic. When I look in the mirror I feel I can really "vibe" or "connect" with myself, I'm vibrant, and the visual feels really striking. I press the camera button and I look dull and lifeless in the photo. This is at the *exact same time* when I saw myself in the mirror and saw such a strong, striking impression. What's wrong?

As a hobbyist photographer, this doesn't seem to be a photogenic/unphotogenic issue. It seems more like a perception issue. It's similar to having your voice recorded - it sounds different in your head then it does when you play it back.

Some guys look in the mirror and see a confident 10, but they are a soft 7. Or sometimes charisma and vibe account for a lot of their attractiveness, but they don't translate well to photographs. You're not the only guy to have this kind of issue: /thread-23529.html

From your post I take it you're using mirror selfies for your online profile?

What you need for a great portrait is: #1 a great "story", #2 good lightning.

In general #1 trumps #2. We are more forgiving of the "how" when we have a great "why".

If you just want a picture that you look good in, you can be more forgiving of #1 and focus on #2. Sebastião Salgado has a great quote on his documentary "The Salt of the Earth": "Photographing is drawing with light".
