RE: Dangers of Kratom
I used Kratom for a short while on 2014.

To be honest, I didn't feel almost a damn thing, only a barely noticeable buzz.

I used GLL's beginnedr Kratom guide, switching strands daily and trying different dose sizes.

Some people swear by it, so it works, good for you. I just don't buy the hype.

That's the only disappointment I've gotten from GLL; all the other info on his site is solid.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
I love kratom. I feel more productive and interested in the task at hand, more connected to other people, and just more optimistic about life in general.

It's almost like a buzz from alcohol minus the negative effects of alcohol. Dishinbited, relaxed...I was chatting up girls during the day- totally calm and pleasant. No AA at all.

Some people have said it doesn't do much for them but I think this is highly dependent on the partcular strain you use (fast vs moderate vs slow). There is a trial and error perioid you have to go through until you find what works for you.

I don't know anything about serious health risks but I do know people have been usuing it in Asia for hundreds of years.

To be on the safe side however, it's probably not a good idea to go full "kratom lifestyle" and use it everyday.

Personally, I like the moderate and slow strains. The fast strains left me feeling good initally but jittery and anxious after a while.

Also- for those who like to mix it with juice- I have found mixing it with a purple or orange juice (beet, pomegrante carrot, etc...) produces good results. For some reason, mixing it with a green juice seemed to nullify the effects. Food for thought.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
Kratom makes me dizzy and nauseous. Even just one "brew" leaves me with a hangover the next day - slow thoughts, headaches and feeling like krap. That's why I call it kraptom. Tried it about 25 times with different strains all over the price range. I don't know anyone else who reacts to it this way though.

Marijuana gives me extreme anxiety, paranoid and even makes me a bit suicidal. Again, I don't know anyone else who reacts that way to that crap either. When people tell me how much they love being high I can't relate. And I must have tried that shit 200+ times from eating it, sativa, indica, everything from A to B and in-between.

I guess I'm just a freak when it comes to shit everyone else enjoys Sad

This is my routine. Shoot some propecia in my veins (nobody likes a baldy) followed by a water pump session while tanning nude in my yard (that vitamin D). I then make a kratom frap with my joe rogan approved coffee and hit the mall day gaming. Makes me feel all right. Approach number close success goes up 18% with my relaxed demeanour, I have excel spreadsheets to back up this data.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
Looks like the end of the road for kratom. I was trying to find an alternative because I cannot use it and found that the DEA has "temporarily" placed it on Schedule I! Ban apparently goes in to effect Sept. 30 2016. So that's that.
https://www.federalregister.gov/articles...ynine-into

DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Drug Enforcement Administration
21 CFR Part 1308
[Docket No. DEA-442]
Schedules of Controlled Substances: Temporary Placement of Mitragynine and 7
Hydroxymitragynine into Schedule I
AGENCY: Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Justice
ACTION: Notice of intent.
SUMMARY: The Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration is issuing this
notice of intent to temporarily schedule the opioids mitragynine and 7
hydroxymitragynine, which are the main active constituents of the plant kratom, into
schedule I pursuant to the temporary scheduling provisions of the Controlled Substances
Act. This action is based on a finding by the Administrator that the placement of these
opioids into schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act is necessary to avoid an
imminent hazard to the public safety. Any final order will impose the administrative,
civil, and criminal sanctions and regulatory controls applicable to schedule I controlled
substances under the Controlled Substances Act on the manufacture, distribution,
possession, importation, and exportation of, and research and conduct of instructional
activities of these opioids.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
Anyone else with some more positive experiences since the opening of this thread?

Besides vendor, strain types, and trial and error - I'm really curious to know what exactly makes Kratom qualifying and non-qualifying, from a health perspective. We know it fucks with your liver in some way. I wish there was more data behind this. There is too many mixed reviews on the pro and cons of Kratom. Why do certain people hate it whilst others swear by it??

RE: Dangers of Kratom
I don't think there's actually any evidence that kratom "fucks with your liver". Everything that I've seen on the subject has been anecdotal. This is a plant we're talking about that has probably been used relatively harmlessly for hundreds of years.

I also think kratom is seen in a bad light because a lot of people who use it are recovering drug addicts. I don't mean that to be negative. I'm just saying that the kratom "community" doesnt have as many high quality people as you'd find in RVF.

With that being said, kratom has the potential to be used as a really powerful tool for self improvement. Kills anxiety and helps you stay present. I legitimately think that the people who use kratom for self improvement don't want to talk about it much because it works so well at getting you in the zone for whatever you wanna accomplish.

Kratom is a narcotic. If you want to use narcotics always remember they can be dangerous. There are not many exceptions to that rule.

Cannabis buds are the female plant and they are extremely yin. Yin is the meaning feminine. That means if you ingest the buds enough you will behave feminine.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
I take kratom three days a week. I've experimented using more but feel "off" on days I don't when I use more then 3 days a week. If you keep use to three days a week with a day off between days you'll avoid the negative side effects and dependency for the most part. I use it for work as it makes working at a call center much easier. I also use it socially as an alcohol replacement at times. I use about 6 grams a day when I use, split in 3 2g doses throughout the day.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
Like some others have said. When I took the stuff it motivated me and I was super productive like on an Oxycodone or such. Kratom is an opioid agonist so it binds to the opioid receptor. I'm still searching for a replacement for it. I'd still be taking it if it didn't jack my liver up.

If an addicted person is taking a narcotic like Kratom then they are not sober and they are not "recovering" not the slightest by taking Kratom. The only way a person can quit using opiates is to completely and totally abstain. Every junky in the world will argue it and search for something to lessen withdrawal symptoms but the complete concrete truth is they have to go through the natural treatment process of cold turkey withdrawals.

By the way, it sounds like you are in this "kratom community" yourself since you take the drug.

Also about people "in recovery", e.g. like in Narcotics Anonymous, the majority of them are not sober or clean. Many are still heavily addicted to nicotine, they can be caffeine addicts, energy drink addicts, many are still on opiates like methadone, other prescriptions, gambling, porn, and they never improve their diets their exercise or thought patterns. Those are people that never experience sobriety. Its just a social club for many of them.

Kratom is a plant from nature that produces narcotic drugs. It is not a playtoy plant.

Yeah I find the low doses most effective too. I'm at even less than 1g per dose and it works extremely well for me. I think I'm a hyper responder lol.

Please check with the community naturopathic DEA narcotics enforcer lurking in this thread before proceeding. You have to gain his approval before self-administering dangerous narcotics.

After you've gained his approval, keep in mind that kratom doesn't really expire bro. Less is also more with the stuff.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
4 days ago I found a bag of top shelf bali (happy hippo) under my cupboard.

I've been throwing 1.5G of it in with my greens powder and whey protein first thing in the morning (one on one off)

I've noticed that my mood has been improved a lot when I throw the kratom in.

Overall I feel a lot happier and I've noticed a significant boost in my motivation.

Anyone else have any experience with this substance?

RE: Dangers of Kratom
Just found this paper online:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_1E1a7q...6N4Si/view

The study concludes that regular Kratom use [brewed and strained Kratom tea] of 19 study participants over a period of 2 years had no noticeable effect on testosterone levels. Seems like they also administered regular blood tests and there were no detrimental effects on liver function either.

That being said, I've been experimenting with this stuff (making brewed filtered tea) for about a week now. My job currently does random supervised piss tests so I can't risk using my drug (weed) of choice to unwind every now and then - hence the experiment with kratom.

Haven't settled on the perfect strain or vendor just yet, but the results are quite promising so far...

RE: Dangers of Kratom
I've been using Kratom nearly every day for the past two years and it has never affected my T levels. I'm on TRT and get my blood tested every 3 months or so, and there's never been anything suggesting that Kratom affects my T or Free Test, or Estradiol.

Reading over this thread, the only time I got nauseous from Kratom is when I took around 12 grams in one day. I was at a business expo convention and went over board with a fast strain because I couldn't leave to grab coffee or tea.

But I generally only take between 5 and 8 grams in one day, always mixing up the strains. For those of you who don't know you need to mix or cycle the strains. So you don't want to take the same fast strain every day. You want to take a fast strain on Monday, a slow strain on tuesday, Fast on Wed., Medium on Thurs.

But I will say this about Kratom. I never found it to be the "life changer" that many Kratom advocates argue it is. It may be for certain types, PTSD sufferers, recovering addicts, but for me it only adds or helps my life, similar to the boost that caffeine provides.

And if I'm looking to completely unwind I would rather smoke weed or have a drink then take a slow strain.

I've taken kratom for about 3-6 months straight a few years ago and I would say its a milder high than weed or thc. Wierd how op's liver values were so high on it. Anyone else have bloodwork done while taking kratom?

Yes you can buy it online still. Someone above posted the exact source I used to obtain mine.

Please don't like my posts or rep me. I do not wish to be judged by how many rep points and/or likes I have.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
I used kratom daily for a few months. I definitely felt withdrawal symptoms if I stopped (irritable, flu-like aches and pains).

The biggest drawback for me was a subtle degradation of both my cognitive ability and my emotional self-control. The cognitive effect was odd in that I was not aware of it until I opened my mouth to try to express an idea. I'm used to being articulate; on kratom I'd open my mouth expecting words that made sense to come out without much effort, but instead I'd stumble, make false starts, and just have more trouble expressing my ideas clearly..

As for emotional self-control, I snapped at a couple of people or became unreasonably heated and impatient. Again, I did not know that I was operating at a deficit until it happened.

I liked the kratom high, made boring work/housework easier. When I first started using it I thought, "This is just a better drug than alcohol: better feeling, doesn't make you drunk/clumsy/stupid, little to no hangover." But for me, where you feel the bad effects of alcohol the next day, with kratom they build up slowly over weeks.

RE: Dangers of Kratom
Kratom (mitragyna speciosa) has opioid properties. In the brain, it has activity in the same Mu-opioid receptors as other substances derived from the opium plant such as morphine, heroine and oxycodone (Percocet, OxyContin).

Because of this, it has addictive properties. Withdrawals can be anything from mildly annoying to absolute hell. Also too much of it can actually kill you.

There's an entire subreddit dedicated to quitting it. If you're considering using kratom daily, first read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/..._the_same/

(04-14-2015 08:40 PM)poledaddy Wrote:  I went from taking Kratom every 2 weeks or for most of 2014, to ~3 times a week this year, and I'm concerned about some Low-T symptoms I've been having for multiple days in a row when I go off of it.

It has been shown that opioid use lowers T levels so it wouldn't be surprising if kratom did as well.
