Not only is he stepping down from the house speaker, but out of congress entirely. This is fucking awesome, this is one of the cuckservative heads backing down...

Now, this isn't 'supposed to happen' which is a great sign that everything isn't entirely orchestrated by 'the powers that be' the bad thing though is that he's not gone until October which means he's got 'lame duck power' until then and can do anything crazy until then because he doesn't give a shit because he's not getting re-elected.

What are the conspiracy theories behind this? What is the down side to his departure?

Honestly very good. I was livid when he backed down during the debt ceiling talk. The next few months are going to be interesting!

Boehner is a perfect example of why the Republican Party as an entity is on the endangered species list. Since retaking Congrss, they've done nothing to stop the president in the hopes that "we'll get our own guy in the White House in 2016" for the last three years. Take a fucking stand on something! Anything!

Is it any wonder than Obama is meeting with the Pope this week for a moral whitewash and then the Chinese Premier and Vladimir Putin next week - they all know the proverbial shite is about to hit the global economic fan and Boenher wants to cash in now and set up himself and his family with a cushy post Congress gig perhaps as a $1 Million dollar plus annual salaried University Presidency and or board memberships. Offers he has likely been holding in his back pocket for a while now and since Boehner just had his triumphal Capital Hill Papal visit victory lap now is his time to bug out in survival mode.

I disagree with your analysis. Boenher is now free from political pressure. He can get a CR through with democrat support that funds the government until atleast december.

Boenher announcing this allows him to say 'fuck you' to the freedom caucus and rubberstamp anything McConnel sends over. Remember, JB is not a tea partier.

As for the next speaker, odds on favorite right now is Kevin McCarthy, who is just like Cantor or Boehner. McMorris-Rogers is another option, but she is the same as well.

The PP stuff is a stupid hill to die on for the R's. Over in the senate this week, McConnel put up a bill that would defund PP and it failed with 8 R's crossing over to vote with the D's. D's didn't even need a filibuster, that was straight up-down vote and they could peel off enough R's. There are atleast four republicans that will go against it in the Sen - Ayotte, Collins, Kirk, Murkowski.

Remember JB supports the senate comprehensive immigration bill as well - he could take that up also and say 'fuck you' to the freedom caucus again.

He really has nothing to lose and in fact will get rewarded monetarily when he leaves the hill if he took this course of action.
