RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
Aw, Dr. Kahn is gone.

On topic: I voted yes. My best friend and I have almost completely different views on nearly everything, but we've traveled to a bunch of countries together and try to have rational discussions. Actually, I really like that we always have completely different views because we keep each other in check.

However, if he or myself became a raving lunatic who blindly and fanatically supported some political cause, I suspect we would grow apart.

Further, I cannot be friends with anyone who is a serious communist. I haven't actually met such a person, but the whole 100+ million dead last century makes me hate communism.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
A good friend of mine that i've had for close to 10 years stopped talking to me because of my Trump support. He actually was a Trump supporter in the beginning and very positive towards him. Then he got back with his cunt ex girlfriend and she warped him into a Sanders supporter.

It was sad, but I've accepted it.

Think about how many friends Trump has lost through this whole thing, probably hundreds. He accepted his fate because he knew that this is what the country needed. When it comes down to it, I feel like it's either Trump or this country is fucked. So I accept the same fate as Trump that I will most likely lose even more friends over my support for him before this whole thing is finished.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
While I probably wouldn't decimate a strong, long standing friendship over politics, I have noticed that I've subconsciously been slowly distancing myself from Berniepeople who drink all the Kool Aid about Trump being a racifasbigosexiphobe. If someone can intelligently defend their political beliefs with concrete evidence, I'll support them and respect them for it, but the vast majority of my generation (Gen Z) sadly cannot. They're uninformed, brainwashed, ignorant, and lacking in common sense. I feel bad for them and try to get them to see the light, but some people are just unwilling to better themselves. I pity them.

Not sure why SudoRoot avoids the ban hammer but Dr Kahn gets it. I'll make an appeal to the boss.

On topic, yeah I would push aside friends with detrimental politics. I'm increasingly of the opinion that politics is just an extension of character, and I don't meet many guys I'd consider winners or otherwise outstanding people who are leftist. Leftism is an expression of one's decaying morals.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
I think if two adults cant disagree without it being a massive issue than some social maturity needs to happen.
This of course can only take place in a society that allows for differences to take place without it being a life or death dilemma, like say in old school communist countries or current day north Korea where not sharing the political ideology is quite literally dangerous for you and your family.

In the west, political differences are like an itchy ass in public... annoying but not that serious.

At the end of the day dudes are probably going to gravitate away from one another anyway. Birds of a feather and all that.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
It depends on how big the issue is. I can be friends with all kinds of people with many different political ideologies, as long as their views don't fundamentally oppose mine. I had a nice friend who I knew for years and we got along great but about 2 months after the migrant invasion started, he began helping in refugee shelters and bragged about it to me despite knowing that I was firmly against it. I explained to him how he's contributing to the detriment of my country but he would continue to do it to stroke his moral ego. I immediately told him we won't be talking ever again.
Might be extreme but these are extreme times. I can't help but loathe people who support this, no matter how much I once liked them. I see these people as enemies now.
Another family member won't talk to me anymore because of my "extreme views". Good riddance.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
I voted yes. I actually think that it is probably a mistake to let political ideology play too large a part in your life as an individual. Unfortunately, most people do, and whilst left and right are probably equally guilty of this, I believe it is demonstrably the case that the leftist ideology is toxic and contrary to good friendship. The corollary of this is that certain attitudes which are self-defeating and profoundly negative become accepted, embraced, and allowed to dictate the course of an individual's life in the wrong way. The Lizard of Oz made a typically excellent comment elsewhere about how a particularly negative characteristic of the leftists is their policing of the 'acceptable'. Consequently, I find my leftist friends are increasingly poisonous, and aggressive, towards anyone who expresses what they consider unacceptable opinions. So it's not so much that I would disown them because they don't support Trump, more that I would be unable to have a grown up conversation with certain 'friends', and consequently their potential value as friends over the long term is limited. I don't mind that they don't share my beliefs so much as I mind intensely that many of them are vitriolic towards me for not sharing theirs.

Was it because he dropped a Cenk in the Trump thread? That's not cool obviously, but can't he get a 6 month ban or something? I can't believe he's clipped when this fuckup is still a member: /reputation.php?uid=41276.

While I sympathize with your opinion, I find most liberals to be perpetual losers with a crab mentality. My life is smoother when I cut associations with toxic people who can never be happy for me, my success, and my ambition. It's no wonder why so many losers flock to socialism by the thousands. I have some liberal friends who understand that spouting bullshit in my presence is unacceptable.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
Trump aside, politics and one's worldview should never destroy long-term friends and family relationships. My family is all over the place politically, and we have some spirited and thorough disagreements. We are however family.

My best friend (15+ years) is usually apolitical, but is a token liberal at heart. This election season, he's come out against Trump with the usual accusations and has told me about how bad Trump is for kicking out protesters. His fiance is doing alot of the political influencing, but me and him in particular get along very well, despite disagreements of any kind.

Put simply, we have never cared about how serious a disagreement is. We love each other like brothers. I'd fucking take a bullet for him and he would for me, regardless of how much he likes Bernie Sanders.

Now if someone wants to break ties with me for my "radical" views, then they aren't worthy of my friendship or my familial loyalty. I've haven't run into this much though.

Blood should be thicker than politics and blood for me isn't just my family as in the case of my best friend. If someone stands by you, I feel you should do the same to them, even if there are plenty of fierce disagreements. The key is that you stand by those who stand by you. That's the true test as to their character. You can meet some people who agree with you both in worldview and politically, but are shitty people as by their actions and their character.

A herd mentality of us vs them is a mistake. None of us are in a cult/club.

"Be a leader and never ever follow" That's what my father, that's what he always told me. So with those words boldly spoken, he sent me down a long and hard road.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
I don't think it should happen with long standing friends and certainly family if it can at all be avoided, but divisions are happening.

In this respect, Trump may be somewhat like Jesus. A relevant quote of Jesus from the Bible:

" Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against one another, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law" (Luke 12:49-53)

You were either with him or against him, according to that statement.

There is no middle ground.

The same argument, politically and directionally for the country, could be made for Trump.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
Two of my closest male friends, whom I thought were fairly blue pilled and left-winged, have revealed to be Trump fans purely because he's a strong man who's not afraid to say politically incorrect things.

Other than that, if I were to purge people from my life because they're Trump haters, I'd lose nearly everyone including my sister. I can count the number of Trump supporters on one hand: my LTR, my parents and my two closest male friends. Those are more than enough for me to have in my corner though.

The thing I noticed about friends of mine who became leftists in college - politics became everything to them. I couldn't have a conversation about anything without them bringing up politics, then becoming increasingly shrill when I countered their misguided beliefs.

It's just not pleasant to spend time with them anymore.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
Well, the decision between friendship and Ideology is always at question at the brink of civil war.

I lost a very close friend because of the Immigration crisis. I simply asked how she could support a policy which leads to rapes and criminality every day. How she could look the women and girls in the eye knowing she is responsible electing the government and supporting the migrant invasion.
She has a sister and I asked how she could life with herself if she was assaulted knowing that she enabled this. I said I couldn't. I pointed out that her Ideology is a direct threat to my friends and family and to hers as well.
This was the moment the called me National-Socialist. Called me privileged and entitled and questioned my German blood pureness (which I am not) which I found hilarious that this was her lefty argument.

The point is that when the perception of reality differs that much and it influences the direct environment and living conditions that there is question between Ideology and friendship.

I wanted to make peace and said we would never breach the topic of politics again but she wasn't in for it. Said she does not want to be friends with a national-socialist, which I am not. But you know lefty programming: Everything I don't like is Hitler and Reality is fascism and consequences are racist and Biology is sexist.

But in her mind despite our long friendship I now was the enemy. Exclamation
And I do not know how close the US is to civil war but this question alone is a symptom for this.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
I wouldn't kill a true friendship over political views, but I would over disrespect. Knowing Fisto personally and seeing the conversations between him and this friend play out, I can see 100% why he's questioning being friends with the guy.

I have unfollowed a friends wife because she's a hardcore Bernie supporter who likes to argue on Facebook and post retarded anti-Trump memes. I unfollowed her just to avoid conflict because she's married to one of my best friends. I've known her for a long time but she's always been disliked by our friends and I haven't really cared for her for the past 10 years. My friend really fucked up by knocking her up.

I have unfriended a few people who post "If you support Trump you're a racist!" type of nonsense. But they were people I hadn't seen nor spoken to in years, so it doesn't really matter.

One is a girl I went to high school with who dated one of my friends, but has always been a real cunt in the truest sense of the word. I remember when she was a sophomore and I was a senior and I had a few freshmen girls coming over to the party. It wasn't her party, but she started to lose her shit and threatened to punch me in the face because she called me a pedophile, and I told her "Well, my friend has been fucking you since you were a freshmen and he's a senior now, so what does that make him?" and she couldn't handle the truth. Now she's a school teacher and mother. Poor fucking kids. When you think of extreme liberal, frumpy, snarky, condescending bitch with glasses, she's exactly what you'd picture.

Another good friend is a Bernie supporter but I can tell he goes out of his way to AVOID any conflict about our political views. He's made horrible choices with women and is a complete beta (even though he used to fuck a lot of girls) when it comes to his wife so I lost a ton of respect for him over the years, but I respect the fact that he doesn't want our political views to hinder our friendship.

Another Bernie supporter friend hasn't been laid in literally years, hasn't bought any new clothes in that same amount of time, and is a drunken neckbeard. I suspect he talks shit about me behind my back too as he's made the comment "You always get laid when we go out" (which isn't totally true), but the way he said it wasn't complimentary. Couple that with a few other statements he's made, and also one I've been told he's made, and I'm fairly certain he runs his mouth about me. Pure jealousy. Dude couldn't get laid to save his life, doesn't lift, skinny fat to the extreme, not good looking, and can't dress. I think he secretly hates me lol. He probably wants to be me, actually.

So to sum it all up, I haven't lost any friends over it, but none of my friends who are hardcore Democarts are people I respect much anyways. Most of them are just my friends because we've come up together since we were teenagers, but none of them have what it takes to be a member here.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
I'm copy/pasting this from my post in the Trump thread, since it's more applicable here and the Trump thread moves at a mile a minute.

"I lost a friend over Trump. Pretty pissed off about it too. He was a guy I've known since middle school. I helped him graduate. I helped him get through college. I cleaned up his place and set him up on a date with his first real girlfriend. I've been there for him whenever he needed something for 25 goddamn years.

And he's refusing to talk to me because I like Trump.

Obviously, he's a BernieBro. He's never really been into politics, but for whatever reason he went hard into Bernie fandom this election. Sure, whatever. In the most likely case, Bernie's going to be an afterthought in 3 months, and in the worst case, he'll be gone in eight years. I figured it's not worth ending a two-decade friendship over.
So I don't talk to him about politics, and when I do, it's positive to neutral stuff about Bernie. Things like, "I like how Bernie is making an effort to appeal to our generation," or, "Bernie did good in Michigan, huh?" Real simple stuff like that. But for whatever reason, he kept sending me "funny" youtube videos about how awful Trump is. The latest was a set of two videos, one from that loser who took over from Jon Stewart, and one from Saturday Night Live, calling Trump Hitler.

Now, the smart thing to do would've been to let this go. But I let my emotions get the better of me, and told him that calling Trump Hitler was really, really childish. The two of them have nothing in common.

He linked me to some stupid JPEG he found on Facebook that had six ways that Trump was like Hitler. One said Trump was an "anti-Muslim fascist" just like Hitler was an "anti-Jewish fascist". Now, this is a guy who literally flunked out of US History. It almost stopped him from graduating high school. His knowledge of history is basically nil. So I just said, "Can you define fascist? I don't mean tell me how Trump is one. Just give me the meaning of the word, without going to Wikipedia, or googling it. And don't link me to that stupid Umberto Eco piece."

Well, that set him off. He started ranting about how I "always talk down to him" and I was "trying to make him look fucking stupid" and "trying to make him look like a fucking idiot".

It went on from there. He's "terrified" of Trump. He doesn't understand why I "worship the ground Trump walks on." Trump has a "secret agenda" that only he knows about, and it's really bad.

He was upset about Trump's policies to target the families of terrorists, and I told him that Bernie supports drone strikes that kill innocent, unrelated civilians. He told me that this was okay because Bernie had promised to "minimize" the use of drones. Bernie would just wait, he said, until the terrorist was alone with no civilians nearby, and then he'd blow them up.

I told him that this was naive. If it were that simple, Bush and Obama would have been doing it already.

I also pointed out that by calling Trump Hitler, he was calling me a Nazi. Because that's what fans of Hitler are, right?

And that was that. He flung a bunch more personal attacks at me, and hasn't spoken to me since. I doubt he will again. And I've got no desire to speak to him unless he apologizes.

Two decades of friendship, down the drain. Fuck you, Bernie. I can't wait for your campaign to crash and burn."

Thinking back to it, this wasn't entirely out of the blue. He'd blown up at me once before, when I'd told him that I was thinking of breaking up with my GF if she didn't get her weight under control. He told me that I had no right to be so "judgmental", that women were more than their weight, etc. Then he started ranting about how I'd "changed", and I "didn't used to be like this", all that kind of crap.

Politics reveals personality, I think. That's why this forum, which is comprised of mostly similar men, has so many Trump supporters. We're all the same type of person.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
So I had this conversation with a friend on FB. I've decided to stop responding to this garbage, if I continue with it, I won't have many friends haha..

The initial post was on his timeline and tagged me in it.

Quote:Him: Your saviour haha what a POS. Captain_Shane you should be ashamed that u agree with this type of behaviour and how this man treats people. ‪#‎sick‬ ‪#‎trumpisallHATE‬ . all those who support him give me one good reason how he would help this country. If u say his money that's bullshit he has had money for years and has never done shit for anyone but himself.

Me: I didn't think you bought into media lies Friend. Sad.

Him: ^ how are they lies when the words are coming from his own mouth dude haha.

Me:

Open your mind and stop living in a bubble.

Me: Yeah, never done anything for anyone.
http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/marri...s-amazing/

Him: Dude stop with all the bs links. Just give me one reason why its ok that he says half the shit he does? Your the one in ur little racist bubble wake up

Me: Calling me a racist now? Really? Really?

Him: Well if the shoe fits Cinderella than wear it. Trump is a hateful racist womanizing piece of shit. I'm still waiting for ur one reason why that's ok?

Me: Why is he racist? How is he a womanizer? Answer these without ad hominem attacks.

Me: So racist that Ben Carson endorsed him.

Me: Yeah, sooo hateful. GTFO
[Image: 151119205723-041-year-in-selfies-2015-re...er-169.jpg]

Me: Only racist whites like Trump right?

Him: Because he calls women fat and disgusting and makes fun of them like a child. Why is he RACIST hahaha really and I'm in a bubble. Lets see he is saying Mexicans are murderes and rapist. He tells mexican/americans to go back to mexico when they were born here. How are u even asking this dude are u that blind.

Me: Are you arguing that illegal immigrants that have come into this country have never committed a crime? He specifically said "illegal immigrants" ILLEGAL!!! A lot of women in this country are fat and disgusting, are you arguing that as well? Do we not have an obesity epidemic in this country?

Me: http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/report-i...exas-6-yrs

Me: yeah bro lets bring in people like this into the usa. Gang members and convicts.

Me: Legal immigrants are fine. Illegals need to get the fuck out.

Him: Hahaha men and women have a obsity problem in this country yes I agree but just because someone is overweight does not make them disgusting infact some of the most nicest amazing beautiful people in this country are the ones who are overweight because they are real and some are very comfortable with how they look weather it makes you uncomfortable or not. I think your disgusting for supporting a man like this. Bad people come in all forms doesn't matter if ur from this country or not. Some of the ILLEGALS your spitting hate towards are women and children being broke apart by our wars and some just want a chance like you and me for a better life. Yes I think it's a obvious issue and one that needs to be addressed but not with hate or finger pointing or spending millions of dollars to upgrade a stupid wall that obviously doesn't work in the first place. Dude wake up this COUNTRY is already full of gang members and convicts and trust me the majority are citizen's of the USA. We incarcerate more people per capa then any where else in the world. Sounds like a government issue not and immigration issue. You think pushing people away labeling and hating them is gonna cause change then obviously your an idiot thats like telling me your going to stop a bleeding artery with a bandaid man. Half the issues Mexico is having is our fault man we feed them the guns and the demand. What's disgusting is that this man can make fun of someone's disability and people like you support that behaviour. Your argument is bullshit and we can all smell ya bro

Me: Where do you get your talking points? Huffington Post? Jesus fucking christ

Him: That's what I thought nothing tp say.

Me: If you want to have a real conversation, then we can another time. I have work to do and I'm not going to sit here and discuss this while you call me a racist.

Him: Maybe my wife can stop murdering and raping people and we can have lunch and talk about it.

Me: Is your wife an illegal alien? No. Then stop using bullshit tactics to elicit emotions. Stop being such a social justice warrior.

Him: Maybe she was at one point so what??.

This is the bullshit that we're dealing with. I'm fucking tired of it, and if that cunt Hillary wins i'm out of here. I won't be able to stay sane with the SJW rhetoric that would entail.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
One of my closest friend posted an anti-Trump message on Facebook, and in turn I wrote a detailed logical argument for Trump with citations and all sorts.

He said he read half of it and found it all false.

When I pressed him for reasons why, because I was genuinely curious if he had any evidence to the contrary, he just said that he feels it's not worth discussing and we both have differing opinions.

Now I'm fine with people not agreeing with me, but close mindedness I can't stand. And lacking rationality is something I don't respect.

So when I heard his reply my opinion of him immediately sunk to the ground. How can you not even have an open minded logical discussion with someone?

Regardless of political biases, I believe it shows a lot about your maturity as a man if you're unable to have a logical discussion or not.

You should say to this guy,

"We've known each other for years, and you won't even help me inform my political decisions? I want to make the right choice this election, won't you help me?"

I'm from the UK, he's from the US.

I also said we could speak on the phone to avoid writing an essay but he just ended the conversation at that.

In hindsight, he wasn't able to have a completely rational discussion about a few subjects. Blue pill coloured lenses affected a number of his choices.

There's no need to out right cut someone off for these sorts of traits if you've otherwise had loyalty and shared experiences with them, but I'm not sure of the long term value of a friendship where they are unable to be completely open minded.

You're forced to hide your opinions from them, just like we tend to do with most of the public. I guess this is why we have different levels of friendship. It's a shame though learning this about a friend I've known for more than half my life.

RE: Friendship Versus Donald Trump
I've haven't had anyone cut me off yet over Trump but on Facebook I have seen a couple of "Please unfriend me if you are supporting Trump" statuses. None of these people have unfriended me yet so I guess it's just empty virtue signaling. Funny I haven't seen any right wingers threaten to cut off their Bernie supporting friends over their choice of candidate. Which side is supposed to be the "tolerant" ones again?
