Sexually reframing an interaction
A couple of weeks ago, I had a customer approach me whom I eventually broached a number close at the register, after a bit of banter whilst she browsing through our merchandise. To my folly, having found out that she's a singer, I did so in the context of jamming sometime with the possibility of collaborating on something.
Without trying to hamsterise my actions, I believe it was a last-minute thing as her girlfriend eventually entered the shop and they'd stuck together at the checkout. I'd been prepared to have framed it as a date otherwise. I've closed girls who were part of pairs previously so I may have just gotten cold feet this time.

I know I've done this sort of thing a few times in the past and I want to break that habit. Even though I may be genuinely invested in such ventures (music, in that case, or photo shooting or film making in other instances), I find it to be misleading, and hard to switch to a sexual or romantic frame afterwards.

Does anyone reckon that I may have successfully professional-/friend-zoned myself by closing in such a matter? Or would I still be able to segue into a bang?

I googled this girl and found that she's a bit more successful than she initially made herself out to be, so I don't think my music skills are anywhere near the calibre required for collaboration. She also gave me her email instead of her number, saying she checks that more often (hard to believe, given the social media obligations for young artists). She seemed into me, so I reckon I could've successfully made my intentions clear otherwise.

So don't waste your time and let her now: "Wanna have a drink on Sunday?"

No bang for you most likely, in this case. A better use for her would be as a social connector. Who are hot girls friends with? Hot girls.

Best play: collaborate with her on music, get into her social circles, then slowly escalate her friends (and friends of friends) to bangs.

Also, cold-approach outside of work. Don't shit where you eat.
