You're 100% right. I always say, Miami is just about the worst latin america has to offer, in reguards to hooking up at least. The quality's there, it's just missing the ease that latin america has. But that said, it still has a lot of other things going for it as far as being an american city. The dudes out here are thirsty and the competition is fierce. I also agree that in Cali the guys don't seems as hungry, at least from what I've encountered.

I would say for sure, that Miami cats are more "aggressive" than California guys.

But I wouldn't take that as California guys having more of a "player mentality".

I would say in California guys just are scared, and would then later rather hate.

I think it is more of an insecurity thing.

But I am making pretty broad brushstrokes here.

However, if you live in Newport or Santa Monica, how often are you really going to go to the desert and rock climb?

Are you really going to drive out there for hours 6 days a week?

I know people that claim the "California just has so much more to do than Miami" and they go camping maybe once every 3 years.

If you are a super hardcore surfer and need your fix 3 hours a day, yeah California makes sense.

Otherwise, I am not really sure what people are talking about.

Maybe someone can enlighten me.

yeah, one of my biggest faults w/CA is that its not really near anything. the only easy getaway is Vegas. Hawaii is doable. other then that you are at least 3 times zones away from anything else.

Yeah, and after you have spent over 100 nights of your life in Las Vegas, you can see how someone can burn out on the place.

The "geographic location for travel" hurdle is also a double whammy.

1. Southern California is a horrible location for world travel
2. Outside of LAX, the airports are abysmal for world travel. Orange County? Forget it. And San Diego can barely be called an "International Airport".

That is a huge disparity. San Diego's airport is more suited for a small town.

I don't think that's much a problem for us because this is such a big state and there's so much do here I don't think it matters. Like I'd said above, Cali is like a country within a country unto itself. You can be driving up I-5 through the central valley and swear you are in Nebraska with nothing but flat farmland in every direction out to the horizon. Yet within an hour you can be at the foothills of the tallest and most rugged mountains in America(Sierras) outside of Alaska. Then you could be in the redwood forest with the world's biggest tallest trees. Then 2 hours away is death valley with landscapes that looks like Bolivia. You got glaciers(yes glaciers) and the hottest place in the western hemisphere almost within site of each other. Then there's Napa valley, Big Sur, cool central coast towns like Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara. Desert resort towns like Palm Springs. Then if you get sick Cali you can drive down to Mexico for something different. If you want to live in a "real" city, there's the Bay Area, if you want a house with a pool and palm trees and a big back yard there's SoCal. This is the best state for variety without even a close second. I've lived here almost all my life and I still haven't seen even half the shit here.

Even though the recession hit hard here, if we were our own country we'd be the 8th biggest economy in the world, just behind Brazil. We used to be number 6 before the recession. Crazy when you think about it, but that's why people say Cali is like it's own country. Most people here would rather just move to a different part of the state than to actually leave the state altogether.

I believe it. It's the only main airport in a major city I'm aware of that has only one runway.



And another thing on Miami, is there any kind of music or culture scene there? I can't even think of one critically-acclaimed band that has ever come out of Miami. Maybe there's a lot of salsa but I'd get sick of that. I'm guessing any kind of arts/creative scene or world class museums is non-existent compared to a place like NYC or SF or even LA. As far as music goes, G's right, it's either latin, house, or hip hop. You'll hear reggae here and there, but it's hard to come across people who listen to any type of rock.

Miami is pretty cultural. You can get food from just about any area of the world. When my friends come down I always make them try the "coladas" from Davids Cafe. I haven't seen them anywhere other than Miami and Key West (I know they come from Cuba).

As far is art goes, Miami has MAD art. Like G mentioned, Art Basil is one of the biggest are shows in the US. Even this weekend they are having the Art Deco Festival. Not to mention our sick ass design district/ wynwood area we have full of galleries. MIA is def. not lacking in the art department.

Sounds like a place I would visit at some point just to check it out. Haven't met anyone from there or staying out there though.

I looked up the stats when you recommended it to me a little while back. The greater Tampa Bay Area is home to 4.2 million people and is growing rapidly. 76% percent of the areais Non-Hispanic White, which is a lot higher than L.A, San Diego and South Florida.

Alright it's 2 weeks later, but I promised Mixx that I'd throw up my report from San Diego...

Headliner, I live in Miami and just had the opportunity to fly out to San Diego for the first time for a long weekend.

My buddy and I flew into LAX and got a rental to take down to San Diego...and we got hooked up and they gave us a convertible 4 door wrangler, which was perfect for that west cost vibe.

11:30 PM Thursday
1st stop ... IN N OUT BURGER my favorite fast food place that we don't have in Miami (if you have never tried a Double Double, you haven't lived, these burgers are FIRE).

We arrived Friday morning in San Diego and stayed with some friends in Pacific Beach. They have a sick house 1 block from the beach and rent is surprisingly cheap compared to what i'm used to. While my friends were at work, I went around straight daygaming. I was definitely impressed with the quality of women out in San Diego, I kept saying wow "look at all these white girls". (it's a bit more rare here in miami).

There is no shortage of women, I found some stunners out on the beach, playing volleyball, jogging on the street, hostess's along the beach bars, restaurants.

10 AM Friday:
If you get out to PB, go to a restaurant called World Famous, they have great breakfast food, with the most central location along the beach, perfect for people watching.

I saw a ridiculous hottie leaving the gym and had to go up to her. She ended up being from Sao Paulo...wore something like this...but with a much bigger butt...



7 PM Friday - End of Night:
We started the night moving around happy hours waiting for the crowd to build up. We went up and down GARNETT ST., which is where a huge strip of bars and clubs are.

I noticed alot of the bars had ratios of 4 guys to 1 girl, but then again I see that here in Miami all the time too. I also noticed that all of these stunners I saw out and about during the daytime, were not partying at the bars (quality of girls was lower at night) IMO ... so personally DAYGAME seems better in PB.

We went to a club called Beachwood, and I noticed a 2 set of brazilian girls (the only 2 non-white girls in the club). One was pretty chunky and the other was schmooking (amazing ass, fake tits, good face). So, I approached the chunky one and eventually eased into talking to the hot one. She asks me if i'm there with my wife because she saw me dancing with a random girl I brought there from happy hour. Social Proof Baam, and it was ON, with me and the hot brazilian for the rest of the night. So, we made out forever on the dancefloor, but unfortunately my friends wouldn't play good wings and talk to the chunker...so she eventually got ticked and made them leave

Fast Forward Saturday Night:
As it was my last night in PB, I had to get this brazilian girl in bed. I got her to come meet us out at the bars that night and she brought the chunker. Same thing again, no one wants her friend... As its get's to 1:30 am (LAST CALL) in San Diego ... way too early. I talk the brazilians and a couple random other girls to come back with my friends to our house for an after party. Once, we get back there me and the brazilian are pretty much just fooling around making out on the couch. Eventually, the people start to call it a night and weed out. Out of a freaking dumb mistake on my part, no one locked up the chunky brazilian, so I was pretty much SOL with her hanging out with us on the couch.

And my girl, flat out said she wouldn't have sex with her friend right next to her in the same room. Weirdly enough, the chunky brazilian was fingering herself watching me and the other one hook up

Sunday:
Had friend take me to the airport to go home after an awesome weekend, although had to leave at 9AM and got to Miami at 10PM (13 HOURS) ... due to time zone changes and 1 flight transfer.

So whats my take on it...

MIAMI / LA / OR SAN DIEGO

LA ...
Have not been when I was a wee lad, so I need to get out there to get my take on it. I have heard the girls are ridiculously hot.

SAN DIEGO ...
The West Coast vibe is so chill, which I loved. They have Mexican food restaurants every block, which are delicious, especially the Mexican breakfast burritos (phenomenal hangover cure). The girls are hot, alot of hot fit blondes, some hot brazilians, lots of asian girls (with FAKE BOOBS) ... so if you like blondes or asians with fake boobs San Diego is for you. The people out there (GUYS and GIRLS) are super cool and friendly. I think partly because there are some many transplants from all over the nation, people are very warm and welcoming.

At the bars in San Diego, I met tons of cool people were so open and easy to talk to. In MIAMI...that straight up doesn't happen, alot of people here have sticks up their butts.

Life is much more laid back in San Diego, people were meditating on the beach, work life seems a little different depending on your career. My friend and his friends are VALET guys (in their mid 20's), and they are complacent with the lifestyle it brings. Oh and the weather....probably the BEST in the nation, it was mid 70's all week with no humidity

Miami...
I love it down here. Our women are out of this world. I literally get out of work in my suit and can drive up to the gas stations to meet hot chicks! I would also says that we have significantly more hot women than San Diego did PER CAPITA. That is however, if you are attracted to our lovely latina women.

Our weather ... You better like it hot. It's January right now and it's 80 degrees. So much for the winter.

Our lifestyle ... It's pretty fast paced, everyone is competing. Everyone has to drive a Benz, BMW, Porsche, Rover, G Wagon ... to fit in, it's dumb. I didn't notice that sense of competition out in San Diego, which was cool. We've got the beach, we've got some of the best nightlife, our drinks are more expensive...but that comes with the territory, life is expensive, we have hundreds of kick ass happy hours when FRIDAY at 5 comes around, you can go out on a Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday and find bumping bars, with schmooking Latina women.

Our people ... It's tough, people are not that welcoming/friendly, our drivers our the worst in America (please someone show me another city with more accidents and crazy drivers). There are some real bad eggs down here and you have to be careful who you trust. Which is why when I meet a quality good person, I make sure to keep them around (there are some haha).

We've got the good and the bad here, just like anywhere in the world, but for me this is an awesome city, with boatloads of women, and is a prime headquarters for an up and coming international playa.

I have been to both places AS A TOURIST. And as the vast majority of tourists will tell you that have been to both places, California BLOWS OUT OF THE WATER florida ANYTIME OF THE DAY

Heck , there is even a phrase in south america for miami:

"Miami es linda porque se parece a una ciudad de USA"

If you dont know spanish i can translate it for you:
Miami is nice because it seems like an american city"

I am more than happy to intelligently debate the merits of South Beach VS any city in Southern California (or neighborhood), but you have to at least make some (or one?) concrete points in the favor of your argument.

Hell, I could make case for Southern California over South Beach better than anything I have seen so far.

It's become apparent to me that for years I've been going to the wrong Ft. Lauderdale, so please, oh please, will someone please take me to the Ft. Lauderdale they go to?

I mean, in terms of Latin women, the numbers go down considerably once you get outside of Dade County, so you're left with mostly average looking white American girls with non-typical white girl bodies, and because the white men in Broward are mostly gay, all the Caribbean black dudes have scooped them up.

The "incredible" Ft. Lauderdale that I've seen others speak of on here is just one I've missed, although if you're Black, it's pretty easy to score with the girls.

Anyone who wants to challenge the high number of interracial couples one sees on any typical night out in Hollywood's Young Circle, Ft. Lauderdale's Riverwalk, etc. is someone who I don't honestly believe has been anywhere near the spot.

Don't really have a dog in this fight, but you can't really be comparing a state vs. another state, it's got to be the city. Hell I live close to NYC but I don't go there but maybe once a year. For many people (not all) something has to be within 30 minutes drive or it might as well not even be there.

What's the big deal about San Diego, aside from mild weather? LA is special because of the movie industry. I'd pick Ft. L any day, but then again, I'm not really West Coast...never have been. Also, I'm not a mountains guy and I love the water and ocean, but like G says, are you really a climber that's gonna be out there all the time? Nobody has mentioned Weeki Wachee either...ain't nothin like that in California!

Ft Lauderdale is lame. It's a one horse town with a few decent places. It is mostly rainbow flag people and toursits jumping on cruise ships. After I sold my condo on Miami beach I got a condo on las Olas for 12 months. My 11th floor office window looked out on YOLO. Nothing to brag about.
