Seconded on the SanDisk. I went from the original Zune the ~$50 version SanDisk. I hate Apple and have never owned anything made by them so I've always used alternative brands.

I only use it for my car and working out. Had it 2-3 years no problem. Great investment.

Agreed with the SanDisk recommendation. I've had it for 3 years, great for mp3s. Never had an issue with it and battery life is pretty long (8-10 hours if I remember correctly).

Another +1 for the Sansa Clip. Mine eventually crapped out recently, but I've had it for about 5 years and put it through a lot of abuse.

The price is great, the memory is unbeatable for the size, it's extremely light, and it has a display, which is something the iPod shuffle lacks.

That being said, if you're looking for something that is just going to sit in your car or home theater, you'd be better off with a bigger and more expensive player.

At first I thought these were cassettes but, no, they look like 8 track cartridges that I can just remember.

As for MP3 players I use either my iPhone or iPod ( gen 3, 12 years old still going strong). Nothing wrong with either of those.

The Sansa can also run Rockbox firmware for a different user interface and FLAC file playback and auto gain control.

Man, what's all these MP3 players you're talking about? Can't you just go and get a few more of these?

RE: Mp3 Players?
Most people I know are now using their phones as their MP3 player. That said I never really got the hang of downloading music on my phone and keeping a full music library probably takes up a fair bit of space.

Honestly I use a cheap $20 or even $10 on sale sometimes mp3 player I picked up at tigerdirect/compusa. I believe it's a Sansa, its a little player the size of a matchbook, so small and light, has a clip to clip onto your clothes or a backpack.

Now I'm not a sound snob so some may say its not hte best quality but heck mp3 is already compressed anyway so how much can you really complain about sound.

These things are cheap so if you lose them or break them or drop them in water its not a big loss. I'm pretty sure they still carry them at compusa or on amazon, you can probably pick one up for about $14 bucks.

It's pretty easy to put music on, you can drag and drop so just open a folder with songs nad drag them over to the mp3 player and your set. My one complaint is I use youtube for most of my music since I've never really gotten the hang of torrents, also there's a lot of cool mixes and stuff you cant find elsehwere. Anyhow, most of my stuff isn't very organized in terms of by artist, song, etc. I think that has more to do with downloading youtube music and not hte player.

I'm happy with mine though and you cant beat the price. Battery lasts a longtime too. I go weeks without charging it. Now I'm not listening to music for hours on end but in the car and stuff.

I recently discovered condoms, still have no idea what they are used for.

Edit: this thread has potential

Based on school lessons, I think they're some sort of device used for keeping carrots or cucumbers in the fridge longer.

What are people using to replace their iPod classic?

I'm not spending a grip to buy the iPhone 6 for an inferior interface. (touch screens blow)

FiiO, Sansa, and Sony all come to mind.
Cop those plus memory card and you should be good to go.

WIA

My mp3 player has to be light because I like running with music. So I bought a SanDisk Sansa Clip.

Pros, in order of importance:
1. Price: $35 for the 4GB version. I got the lesser version because...
2. microSD card slot. I organized all my music into playlists and transferred it to a 64 GB microSD card. Pretty much my whole music library on that tiny thing.
3. Size and weight, plus the clip. It clips onto an armband I have for running.

Cons:
1. Crappy user interface. Not that it looks like shit, I don't care about that, but finding my playlists takes a bit longer and start-up takes a little longer as well. Also, when you put your SD card in, the player has to 'update' the library and render your player unusable for a while.
2. Build quality. Though that's deceptive, because even though it's made of cheap plastic, I've had this thing for almost 2 years, now that I think of it... and I've gone through multiple iPod nanos that didn't last nearly that long.
3. General reliability. It'll wonk out occasionally, shit looks like it's running MS-DOS.

The iPod Nanos are obviously better, but they have less memory and actually break more often on me than the SanDisk.

Yea, it was definitely worth it overall, especially just to get the hell off iTunes completely.

I just realized kamikaze had already recommended the mp3 player I was endorsing as well. I called it Sandisc although I guess its sansa.

I also highly recommend this thing. I actually have bought these for as cheap as $10 in the sale bins at compusa but you can usually find them for $20 or less.

Agree with everything kamikaze said, light, cheap, small, nice clip, plenty of space. I also agree the interface isn't the best but I don't really care I normally hit a play list and let it run anyways, I'm not searching for individual songs.
