RE: Share a bit of local dialect from where you grew up
West Coast of Ireland, also known as 'The Bog'

The Bog - Mostly inhabitable rough and primitive landscape occasionably inhabited by rough and primitive people

Adding a 'h' to all words that begin with 's'. The result is that every word beginning with an 's' produces a 'sh' sound. No idea why this is, example shtop, shtart, shtory
Shtop the lights - display of surprise or disbelief

Adding the sound 'hoi' to the end of a sentence in order to add weight to your point. Example, 'Lad's a gick, know what I mean hoi'

Feen - Male
Lad - Male
Bure - Female
Lackeen - Female
Gick - Literal translation is vagina, but it's rarely used in this context. Mostly taken as an insult to someone's intelligence e.g. idiot
Gimp - Idiot
Goon - Idiot
Rig - Idiot
Gombeen - Idiot
Bowsy - Alcoholic
Shtory? - Hello
Wah Ho - How's it going?
Crack lad? - How's it going
Seek - Expression of surprise or disbelief
The crack was 90 - It was most enjoyable
Lushin - Drinking
Bush Lushin - Underage Drinking
Sooney Gitch - ?????????

And on and on it goes

Haha we have a similar accent to Cork, and many Irish descendants live here. Speech is faster though. What I wrote is probably spoken slowly in your head, but is actually spoken rather quickly. People here speak like Twista or Busta Rhymes. To describe the language (and culture) in Newfoundland, would be to call it a party mix of English, Irish, and French. Even a small German mix as mother and father is pronounced, "mudder" and "fadder", similar to "mutter" and "vader".

Example: "Me mudders right gone on 'er daday by" or "Fadder, 'e's a fuckin' state 'e is"

RE: Share a bit of local dialect from where you grew up
I'm surprised ya'll ain't having some more fun with this. . .

When I was still a milk-behind-the-ears young buck, I had a bizarre group of friends. We were all from a sleepy village smack dab in a whole lot of nothing. The only things we seemingly had in common were a love of girls as deep as a mud puddle and booze-cruising around with beer like Beast Lite that had more in common with fragrant dog piss than pilsner. We did raise some hell -- by hell, I mean ignorant tomfoolery -- and this little aside is about some of that "hell."

Late one summer night, my friend and I went over to another one of our friend's houses -- let's call him Vince. Vince was pure redneck: long, shaggy beard with a bulbous gut to match, wears Levi's a size too tight and drinks like an unemployed fish. This particular night, he gets into the back seat of my sedan. At the time, all I noticed with him was a backpack, a dip cup and a half-drunk Budweiser.

We get to cruising the backtracks just outside town when Vince tells me to slow down. He sits up in his seat, taps me on the shoulder and points to the field over to my left. It was an empty cornfield full of tangled itchweeds and dandelions that a bunch of deer happened to be sauntering through.

As we are watching the deer walk through the field, I feel dull steel grazing my head. Instinctively, I pull away and look behind my head. Vince had brought a shotgun with us and was rising up through the sunroof with the gun.

I yell out something like: Lord have mercy, what in the sam Hell is wrong with you?

Vince chortles a bit as he gets himself fully through the sunroof. Once there, he says: I ain't gonna shoot no deer out a moving car. I ain't fucking crazy. Grab me my spit cup.

I respond: Fuck you.

Vince came out of the sunroof right quick after we protested. I have no idea why he brought a shotgun that night. Nobody or no thing got shot that night, but Lord Jesus he was dumber than a sow trying to hump a calf.

Kiwi talk:

Sweet as = Great, awesome, sounds good, etc.
Shot = (from 'good shot'?) Good one, good on you; thanks.
Wop-wops, or just 'The wops' = The middle of nowhere
Chilly bin = cooler, ice box
Crib = Holiday home (South Island)
Bach = Holiday home (North Island)
All good = Don't worry about it
No worries = You're welcome
Stubbies = Short shorts
Knackered = Exhausted
Heaps = Really, as in "that's heaps good, bro"
Good cunt = A perfect gentleman
Togs = Swimming trunks
Chur = Thanks, from 'cheers'
She'll be right = Everything will turn out for the better

...All lathered with the liberal use of "bro" or "cuz" of course, as well as "ay" in the same way Canadian use "eh".
